M128 Upgrade to Turnigy 9X

I have been looking thru a few posts and topics and I have not really found the answers I am looking for...

The question is what are the pros of upgrading the CPU of these Stock Boards on the T9X?

I have found alot regarding the increase of Models that are permitted on the Radio now.... for me that is not a big deal. I fly 2-3 Models(quad/heli/plane). For me I want to know if there is more? Like do I get more options? Do I get more Voice Switches, More FP's for Mode Displays? etc....
I have pretty much every upgrade there is for the radio.. I just need more options for voice feedback, etc....

Is there a comprehensive list anywhere?

Double the model storage, and (for openTx) the ability to fit more (all) of the options that are shown in c9x in the flash.

So if you don't care about model storage and all the options you want already fit on the m64 there is no advantage.

Yes those. No more switches/flight modes etc as those would require more RAM, which the 128 doesn't have.

I'm hoping to add more features to er9x-128, just need enough time!
I'm working on XJT module support, the '128 version will have more support for it.
The '128 version of er9x does include some small additions, like when you are editing a field that wants a switch set, you can just move the required switch to set it.

5th Aug 2013. Also there is now only 1 build for the 128, there is an option to set whether you have done the FrSky mod for telemetry!

For people with the telemetry mod done:
You will have to turn the telemetry mod option ON after you flash the FW as it comes OFF by default..

Hi Kilrah, apologize for asking... just a little confused here... Switches/Flight Modes... those work in 64 version now... as I have switches in there along with FM's.

I am using OpenTx with
5 Flight Modes (0-4) and I think there are only
16 Custom Functions with
12 Custom Switches

Does this increase with 128 Chip is more or less the question? ( I assume that has to be built in the Prog? )

And as I said, no there is the same number, as putting more would require more RAM which the 128 doesn't have. The 128 has more flash and EEPROM, but the same amount of RAM.

I think I read that feature in the forum somewhere, that is very cool. I am not sure what the limits on the switch counts and custom functions in er9x anymore...

For me, I just want to be able to set as many as possible as I am using ArduCopter mostly and that version of firmware as I don't like the screens, I just use OSD along with Telem on Tx Screen. I need the audibles for when I am FPV'ing to sound off alerts that I don't want to clutter the OSD Screen or might not be paying attention too.

and when I fly LOS, I would like the audibles as well.

Edit: just put er9x on again...

5 Flight Modes (no ability to title them) from what i can see. (The purpose of this is to see what Mode I am in for APM (Stable/Acro/Auto, etc) and to sound the Audible... that can be elsewhere separately...

I had a feeling that I knew that answer.... the 2561...I was following that thread too... just so much information some times... yes I have one of those chips waiting around as well... just not making the leap as I still want a functioning system.. I think I need to order another radio for testing...

as for the complement... just giving the due credit where needed... lots of love in this forum.... its all good, you are a fantastic catalyst... I wish I grasped as much as you do to contribute.

I think the '2561 version of er9x is OK, I just can't fully test it as I don't have enough radios for everything either. I have three 9Xs, one M64, one M128 and the third is ersky9x, nowhere for a '2561 version!

Thanks to you Mike... looking forward to more voice switches... I will order another radio myself so that i have my original mod'd M64 untouched until I am ready to change that one too. New Tx for testing just arrived. I have a chip transplant to do now! Thanks to those three who donated to help me get it.

Interestingly it is a Turnigy brand, but looks like it has the same black plastic case as the FlySky brand rather than the grey. The black FlySky plastic seems less likely to strip when doing up the screws.

LTMNO: Just testing a version of er9x for the, '128 and '2561, with 6 extra custom switches and 8 extra voice switches. Lots of changes in this to do with the stick mode and XJT support, I'm sure I will have missed something!
