Companion9x 1.51 and er9x 808 eeprom format?

Post by TheObstacle »

I just updated my 9x firmware to er9x version 808 (the latest version at the moment), and it seems like the eeprom format has changed in some way that's incompatible with Companion9x 1.5.1 (revision 2321).

I'm not sure which version of er9x I had installed before, but it was probably at least a year old. Companion9x reads my old eeprom backup just fine.

After the er9x update, the transmitter was warning about an old EEPROM format and admonishing me to check mixer settings, and it does appear that they got pretty trashed. I had to re-create most of the settings on the TX.

After getting them all set up properly again, when I try to use the "Read EEPROM from Transmitter" function in Companion9x, it reads successfully but I get an alert that says "Invalid EEPROM file". Dragging in the .bin file backup of the new EEPROM gives the same result.

Am I just doing it wrong somehow? Is this a known issue? I've attached the backup of my EEPROM to this post, in case that helps with troubleshooting.

Your EEPROM file reads fine in eepe (r391). I generally keep eepe compatible with er9x.
There have been a number of changes over the last year.

If you use er9x, then use eepe not companion. Companion is an excellent program but sometimes might not have the latest er9x changes.
Also, sometimes the eeprom might change with newer versions of the firmware. That's the price of development, and it means that someone is being very kind to work on the firmwares we all love to use FOR FREE :D :D

Ah... I thought I had the latest version of eepe, but I see the Mac build wasn't updated past version 339. I'll head over to the eepe section of the forums to see what I can do about that. :)

Thanks!

I've posted a Mac build of eepe revision 391 in what I think is the right thread, here: http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... =60#p65221

It works fine with er9x version 808. :)

Cheers,

Hi Mike, I am new here. Thank you very much for your work in this firmware.

I have these same problems with the eepe files version and the new fw release 808. My problem is that the linux 64bit DEB package is still version 362, I tried to install the 32bit deb package but it resulted to be very unstable in my system. So I finally had to go back to a previous version of er9x.

I had problems when I last tried to build a 64bit DEB package and I haven't had time to sort them out.
I'll put this backon my 'todo' list.

I tried to build a 64-bit linux version of eepe, cross compiled under windows. I'm getting:
"sorry, unimplemented: 64-bit mode not compiled in"
so it looks like I'm going to need to find time to sort my QtCreator installation. At present I build the windows version under windows and a 32-bit linux version in a linux virtual box. It will be much easier if I could build all in one go!
