using Tx with er9x on flight sims like Pheonix and Aerofly

Post by miss5031 »

I just recieved these sims and can't get the calibrations done or even recognized. Anyone have any suggestions or fixes. I'm not very computer savy, so it needs to be pretty simple to follow. Thanks. :?

you need top install the application that came with the dvds (i presume you got the "chinesse version") and then choose the sim you are using and the application will install the drivers that it needs.
Also look about getting the module out of the transmitter or do the resistor mod.
(the new PPMsim function is not working for me, i still need to take module out)

I can't get the launch simulator to work. It keeps coming up simlauncher 2011 error. Don't know what to do. Did I get a bad or corrupted disc?

that looks like the transmitter does not have the resistor mod or you are not plugging out the module out.

ill repeat again take the RF module out. usually the error comes when the donlge is not getting the signal at least in my case

Just to confirm, you do leave the radio OFF when connected to the simulator, don't you?

dont forget to have the trainer option "ON", for that specific model.

my suggestions :

1-make a new model on your trasmitter
2-take RF module out
3-Turn "on" the trainer option and PPM out (or something like that)
4- turn off the transmitter and connect the cable on the trainer plug (the transmitter should go from off to "on" by it self, just connecting the cable in the back

I'll detail my setup which I just tested as working. I have the stock module inserted and no resistor mod done. Only mods to the radio are a soldered in programmer cable. I have the 9 in 1 simulator from deal extreme.

I installed the Phoenix program from the dvd and plugged in the usb dongle.
I left the radio off and plugged in the sim cable. I created a new model and setup the 8 channels. 1-4 on the sticks and 5-8 on switches.
On page 2/10 of the model setup Trainer is OFF and Proto is set to PPMSIM 8CH.
In page 1/6 in the RADIO set Enable PPMSIM to ON.

With this I am able to setup and control all 8 channels in the Phoenix sim.

We are all assuming that you have the stock radio with er9x firmware installed. I don't remember you specifying whether or not you have the stock firmware or something else.

Can you confirm what firmware version is on your radio?

I do have Er9x downloaded. I do remove the module. I did get Tx to work in Phoenix, but not the others. I noticed that the dongle I recieved does not have the switch on
the side to switch between different sims. So I can only use Phoenix. I can't seem to get the rudder to work and calibration is real jittery. I've tried advanced calibration
and it sill is jittery. Any more ideas, I'm all ears.

Some of these chinese dongles are notoriously cr*p.

One thing you can try is set er9x protocol to PPM with 6 or 4 channels instead of the default 8. Some of these dongles act funny with more than 4.

On the new dealextreme rc sim china dongles doesnt have switches any more.
You need to install the SAILI Simulator Launcher 2011 to change simulators..After you open it you should see a little icon on your taskbar, rightclick and change your simulator.

Also check that you calibrate your radio not only in the simulator.

So to sum things up.
1. "I left the radio off and plugged in the sim cable. I created a new model and setup the 8 channels. 1-4 on the sticks and 5-8 on switches.
On page 2/10 of the model setup Trainer is OFF and Proto is set to PPMSIM 8CH.
In page 1/6 in the RADIO set Enable PPMSIM to ON."

2. Remember to remove tx module.

3. Select your simulator in SAILI Simulator Launcher 2011
if you don't find it, download it from http://rcnordic.no/?page_id=41
Cheers!

There is no reason to do step 2. That is what the PPMSIM settings are for.

I suppouse, your PC run on Window 7. Just right-click on SimLauncher 2011 and from context menu choose "Run as Administrator". After that, you will se a SimLauncher icon in tray notification area (by default right bottom corner of the screen). Right-click on icon, choose desired sim, launch them and enjoy ;).

I have set SimLauncher as administrator, but it still doesn't give me the option to switch to other sims. It says program running. I really do not know what else to do.

I finally figured it out. Thanks for the help, now the only thing I need help with is getting Realflight to work and calibrating Tx for the other sims besides Pheonix.

Do you mind sharing what you did to figure it out...I have the same problem, even when running as administrator.

For Pheonix sim, I have proto (2/10 in setup) set to PPMSIM8CH. On the same screen (2/10 in setup) the trainer is set to "on" I also have in (Radio Setup screen 1/6) enable PPMSIM is on, other than that nothing else. I am still having trouble setting up my 9x on Aerofly and other sims. Hope this helps.

Oh, I thought you meant you figured out the launch simulator error that you were asking about earlier. Phoenix SIM is running fine for me, just not the launcher (whatever that is).

The sim launcher is also working for me. I right click on the short cut icon and click on "Run as Administrtor". Then on the bottom right hand side the little icon of the sim launcher appears. I right click on that and a window comes up with all the sims and I choose which one I want to run and then click on that sim short cut icon and fly away. Hope this helps you out. I hope I explained it good enough to understand what I am doing.

It's a chinese package with various cr*cked "big name" simulators, and the sim launcher is the thing that allows you to launch the one you want, and next to that defeats the license checks etc... :|

Had a similar issue as miss5031, everything was good until I updated to v4.0k then I could no longer calibrate theTx.
Pheonix did not recognise my Tx in any way shape or form, I use a FlySky TH9X (removable module), SmartieParts and er9x. Long story short I rewrote my sim eepe numerous times and came up with this
Phoenix Sim.rar
(384 Bytes) Downloaded 780 times
It is not completely as recommended but now I can operate 4 channels and at least get some stick time, I'll sort the other channels out at a later date.
I follw a set process to ensure it works:
1/ Remove module
2/ Connect Tx to dongle
3/ Connect dongle to puter
4/ Run Pheonix program

At first I manually set the channel allocation then ran the calibration scenario, now it's all good (hopefully bullet proof).
This works for fixed wing, rotary I have not tried.
Hope this is usefull to someone. :D

Now you can launch it from Start->Programs with Run as Administrator option... can by set as default, just right click on app icon, choose Properities, then Combatibility tab... somewhere at the bottom is Run as Administrator checkbox

I got it ..... but did not realise you actually had to have some sort of device for it to run.... perhpas 12 n 1 sim stick? or 9 n 1..... anyway it does not work as I do not have one.
