Solved - V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
I have just upgraded to v219 on my Sky9x and as I have not updated the boot loader for a while I attempted to do so and it failed with a invalid file error . I did the same upgrade on my 9XR-Pro and everything worked as expected.
I tried three time on the Sky9x downloading a new copy each time, any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
Make sure you are using the file "ersky9x_rom.bin", and not the same as for the 9XR-PRO " ersky9xr_rom.bin".

I've just put that file on my SKY board, and in the firmware directory of the SD card and maintenance mode flashes the bootloader correctly.

Re: V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
I just flashed r220 using eepskye and copied the firmware file to the SD card then used maintenance mode to flash the bootloader with the same result "Invalid file" Eepskye does not give any error when I flash the firmware.MikeB wrote:I've just put that file on my SKY board, and in the firmware directory of the SD card and maintenance mode flashes the bootloader correctly.

Re: V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
Updated my skyboard Rev B1 from bootloader 2.0 to 2.1 using the latest r220 release file and had no problems.

Re: V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
I carn't say for sure what Rev my Skyboard is but I believe it is a Rev B. I can flash the firmware using the SD card in the radio but I cannot update the bootloader no matter what I do. The current bootloader version I have is 1.7.jhsa wrote:Updated my skyboard Rev B1 from bootloader 2.0 to 2.1 using the latest r220 release file and had no problems.

Re: V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
I hold the two bottom trims outwards and turn the Tx on, then select update bootloader, then select the copy of the firmware that I wish to use to update the bootloader, using the Menu button to do the selecting each time. Those are the same steps I used to update the bootloader on my 9XR-Pro and that worked.jhsa wrote:what exactly are you doing to update the bootloader?

That is correct, thanks..
Do you have old firmware files on your card? If so could you please try to update the bootloader from them?

Re: V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
Well, I can't think of anything else, apart from hard resetting the board and flashing it again with samba..
Let's see what Mike says

Do you have another SD card you could try?

Re: V219 Update Boot - Invalid file
OK the problem was the SD card, even though I reformatted the card using the SD formatter program that João recommended and both Windows and Linux Mint could quite happily read the card the Tx refused to do the same. I had a new 32Gb micro SD card which was destined for my dash camera which I formatted and copied the appropriate files to and all is good with the world, the bootloader is now updated, it is a waste of a 32Gb card, but I was unable to get anything smaller at short notice, in fact small capacity SD cards are very scarce around here, so I brought a couple on eBay.
Once again thanks for all your help.
