I have an sp2.1 and an unmodded new T9x. I'll make time on the weekend to install the telez and test it out. Sorry I can't help sooner.

Got my board (thanks Steven!) but haven't had any free time lately and so haven't been able to follow everything up close. So I think I missed something, is r58 the latest (ie everything working properly) version or where can I grab r56?

Make sure that jiggling that wire isn't shorting it to gnd or +5V. Or one of the other wires shorting either. Used my local backups which have worked fine until now except for the switch\toroid issue. But you're probably right and it's something silly I've overlooked. I'll go through everything again.

hehehe Just reflashed the tez board and no complaints from avrdude so board isnt completely fried but I removed and reconnected all connections and still no readings after, not even rssi. Could something have happened when I flashed the t9x? I didn't disconnect anything then including the battery......

Tizzy... if you have any means of strong magnification, I'd bet a small sum of money that one of the capacitors (labeled C1, C2, C3, etc) has one of its sides not soldered.
