Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
you exposed my plot to make the best board for my Micro quad's ....
One thing I know is it is hard to find any thing between 3a and 10a ...or they are over priced.
But yes I agree on bigger stuff you want separate ESC's if one fails it can be replaced easy (hence why projects combing esc's into one board never proceeded very far) ... having a neat build in Rx is still very appealing and yes I use D4FR currently, but if all functions can be build into one board it will just look neat, and work nice, plus telemetry and possibly programing of the unit can be incorporated into the one unit, like every one wanting to fit BT so they can see and program from MW Gui, if this is implemented correctly no BT will be needed and real time data can be send and received and even displayed on your 9x (for example: Mag=on Stable=on Baro=234 Heading=110° Bat=9,32v)

The 6A Turnigys are great, I have a few of them in use. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... oller.htmlGrootWitbaas wrote:One thing I know is it is hard to find any thing between 3a and 10a ...or they are over priced.
Never tried them with quads though.
Unfortunately FrSky has no data uplink, so while you could see the telemetry data you couldn't adjust settings or program with it.GrootWitbaas wrote:like every one wanting to fit BT so they can see and program from MW Gui, if this is implemented correctly no BT will be needed and real time data can be send and received and even displayed on your 9x (for example: Mag=on Stable=on Baro=234 Heading=110° Bat=9,32v)

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
FrSky standard has no up-link yes ...but with Pxx I think this can be possible ....how hard can it be to add ? Any way I like the direction where we start to build/make our own stuff to suit our own needs ...Many years ago if you wanted a RC transmitter you had to build it yourself, or pay someone a small fortune to do it, then came the cheap Chinese radio's ...now we buy them and make changes so they do what we want them to do In this community we have the people able to do this ....so we should do this when ever possible.

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
I thought about having the main MCU control the motors as well
I don't know if it's feasible as far as timing is concerned.
Maybe a "distribution board that has a MCU and a pinout for separate ESC's. Just looking for a way to reduce costs and improve responsiveness.
There's something to be said for a "simple" board that binds to your tx and does everything. Not very flexible but damn well easy to use

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
It would be easy for FrSky. But it doesn't look like they intend to do it...GrootWitbaas wrote:FrSky standard has no up-link yes ...but with Pxx I think this can be possible ....how hard can it be to add ?
From my observations in this thread, they are sending R/C info 3 times in a row at a 9ms period, then spending one period for the downlink. But, at least with a PPM input from the TX, sending 2 RC packets at 9ms interval makes no sense. So they could rather keep the 9ms period but use a different pattern, like send one RC packet, one uplink packet, one RC packet, one downlink packet. We'd still have 18ms RC period, which is already too fast for a 8-channel PPM input, and both data directions.
If FrSky gave us the source it would be a day's work to implement it
Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
plus 16 channels or make new receivers.. I think that's why they don't give it..

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
Hi Guys, got some bad news.
I made an error on the board. Not a big one, mind you, but an error nonetheless. I can do a quick fix but I really don't like sending out boards like this. Also, I have a better design that can incorporate a magnetometer.
This means a delay of about a month in this project. Not great but I think it will all turn out for the best. I'll keep updating
Meanwhile, since the design is open and "on the table" this is the best time to make suggestions/requests.
Erez
p.s. I will be selling the boards I already have made at substantially reduced price. Those who have preordered have first pick of course. Also, if you want to buy MPU-6050's cheap, contact me

Damn! Knew I forgot something....What? No blue light?
Actually last time I kept staring at the light and not getting any work done. This time I'll wait till the code is running.
And yes. The light is still blue.

precious blue diamond.
Are we going to see the vid that you are pushing the quad and it stabilizes itself?

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
Yup.
The SW is pretty much the same for PIPO8 and PIPO32. PIPO32 has more channels, can do faster loops and can do true PWM (up to 100% duty cycles) but beyond that it's pretty much the same.
BTW, I just hit on the idea to connect fets directly to the output pins. You could do this and control 4 small brushed motors without any further modifications. The SW supports it just the same

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
So, are we getting close to availability of the ISU and connection board? Ready to order
Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
I've done away with the connection board. You can now connect to headers that are on the board itself.
I'm now testing the first units. There are still some software issues but the HW is looking very good.

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
OK.
I haven't understood how you could connect 3 pins (a servo plug) with that edge connection method... unless the servo plugs are connected "horizontally", but then the number of pads is not a multiple of 3 and I don't seem to see a power/ground/signal interleaving on the traces...

Yes, the light is good....
Kilrah, it looks like this: The top row is signal, the bottom is 5v+. The GND is connected with a separate conductor.

You only need the signal wire if you're doing multirotor inputs for motor control. Esc's too, just signal wire... I jabber... I need beer.

yep, that's why one day we'll be wiped out of the face of this planet.. only thinkin about destroying..
Did someone already have the idea to make one of these machines save people from accidents and take them to hospital, or taking food to hungry children? or saving people at sea??
I think I need some beer...
P.S. - Oh, and for sure he is not using Spektrum dsm2 or that thing would have blown his head off

Re: PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)
Yep, but the point of the device was to be quite universal, no? I.e. to drive multicopters, but also provide gimbal stabilisation, or even airplane stabilisation (which implies controlling servos). So connecting a servo should be quite easy, and not involve cutting the servo plugs and soldering...cre8tiveleo wrote:You only need the signal wire if you're doing multirotor inputs for motor control. I don't really like those horizontal connectors. Add the servo plug and some room to bend the cable, on both sides, and it becomes really huge.
