Voice Packs for Ersky9x
Voice Packs for Ersky9x
NEW!!!
TTSAutomate - An excellent tool that allows you to create your own voice packs. Please get it at:
https://github.com/CaffeineAU/TTSAutomate
Here is a General ErSky9x basic phrase file for using with the TTsAutomate utility. You can edit, and add files to the "user" and "ModelNames" folders, but please don't touch the "system" folder, or your voice pack might not work properly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here you find Voice Packs for Ersky9x. From now on there will be only one pack for all boards using the Ersky9x firmware. Different voices mean different packs of course, but for all boards.. There are no specific voice packs for 9XR-PRO, Taranis, 9xtreme or Skyboard. There is a pack for Ersky9x. I did make some welcome messages for all different boards and placed them inside the "Extras" folder though, so you can change the welcome message if you want
Unzip the "voice" folder to the Root Directory of your radio's SD Card..
There is now also a "Docs" folder that has the voice list and a little tutorial explaining one of several ways of making your own voice files. The voice used on this pack is "Sharon" from http://www.acapela-group.com/
I hope it will remain available for a long time
I hope you enjoy this voice pack.

NOTE - From now on the file will include a version number and a ChangeLog file inside the "Docs" folder.
THE OLD PACK FOR VERSIONS 217 AND EARLIER WAS REMOVED. IT WAS ONLY CONFUSING PEOPLE THAT INSTALLED THE LATEST VERSION OF ERSKY9X. IF YOU HAVE AN OLD VERSION OF ERSKY9X, YOU SHOULD UPDATE TO THE LATEST ONE..

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
Great job!
I am still some what confused about how all those files should be. I assume we should have 3 directory under \voice:
\system ---- must have those wav files, and these are listed in your sound file doc as red and the numbers should not be changed
\modelnames ----- where model names are stored, we can add any we want. what are the alphanumerical allowed in the name?
\user ---- user defined files, you can put any in there. also use number or alphanumerical?
does \extra needs to be in the \voice directory? is it where sytem find welcome wav files?
what are the whole list of wav file under the \voice directory is for? Just we can preview it? in the SD card, they are not needed. is this correct? I see overlapping files with system and other. Are these needed under \voice main directory?
By the way, suggest put this file in system file for model matching capable rx and this for welcome :

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
Correct, plus all the numbered files.. Just unzip the voice folder to the root directory of your SD Card and all will be in the right place.kaos wrote: I am still some what confused about how all those files should be. I assume we should have 3 directory under \voice:
Yes, do not touch these files, forget they exist. These are used by the radio firmware only.\system ---- must have those wav files, and these are listed in your sound file doc as red and the numbers should not be changed
They need to be maximum 8 characters long, excluding the file extension. So something like "My_Model.wav" . It can of course be shorter. "Quad_1.wav" I believe you can also use spaces but I think I never used it. Try it. Something like "ASW 28.wav".\modelnames ----- where model names are stored, we can add any we want. what are the alphanumerical allowed in the name?
Yes the same as with the modelNames. Make a voice file, give it a name (max 8 characters), and place it in the "User" folder. Then you can access it from the "Voice/Alarms menu"..\user ---- user defined files, you can put any in there. also use number or alphanumerical?
No, "Extras" does not need to be on the card. Actually I will do it differently next time I update the voice pack. "Extras" will be placed outside the "voice" dorectory, and the "Docs" directory will be moved into it. It makes more sense and less confusing. But it doesn't harm if you leave it where it is..does \extra needs to be in the \voice directory? is it where sytem find welcome wav files?
Welcome files are in the "System" directory and (for the moment) also on those numbered files in the voice directory. file number 0028.wav
For the moment all numbered files (as used before in er9x) have to be in the voice directory because Mike still didn't finished the conversion from the numbered files to named files. Once this is completed those numbered files will not be needed anymore. I think he is currently working on it. So, just forget about them and leave them where they are. They don't affect the files you can use. They just need to be there for the moment. I believe newer versions of the firmware will need less of those, if any.. All system files will then be placed in the "System" directory ONLY.what are the whole list of wav file under the \voice directory is for? Just we can preview it? in the SD card, they are not needed. is this correct? I see overlapping files with system and other. Are these needed under \voice main directory?
I don't think there is a System voice for "wrong model" in the firmware yet. When/if Mike creates it, I will make the corresponding voice file. I don't think I will be using yours though. I use another voice for this voice pack. But if you you want you can replace the existing file with your own. Just give it the same name as the original file, and place it in the System folder replacing the original one.By the way, suggest put this file in system file for model matching capable rx
I think this is an interesting file but as I suggested above, you can replace the original welcome message with your own.and this for welcome :
Just give it the name "WELCOME.wav" and place it in the system folder. If it still doesn't work, it is because the firmware is still using the numbered file in the voice directory. So, just change the file name to "0028.wav" and place it there..
I hope this answered your questions
Cheers

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
On my Pro with newest test fimware I made the experience that welcome.wav in system directory
is taken prior to 0028.wav in voice directory.
It took some time before I noticed that.

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
I am working on not using ANY files from the voice directory.
I don't think I can detect a "Wrong Model". If the receiver doesn't get the correct "model match" number, it simply doesn't work. The radio has no way of knowing if this is because of a wrong model number or the receiver is just switched off!
Because of the way voice developed (on er9x first), I look for named files first, and "fall back" to numbered files if the named one is not found.
I think, with a voice pack available these days, I could even drop the numbered files. During development, not all named files were available.
Mike.

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
Thx for the explanation. Now I know why I only have my old one direct with numbered file only but still works just fine - for now, and why the duplication of file in different directories, for now. Not an issue any more.
by the way, those two files I 'suggested' are meant to be a joke.
They are the 1st two voice files I made when er9x became voice capable long time ago.

Dear God in heaven above who's idea was it to put a massive police siren in for 10min inactivity alarm. Sitting beside wifey on sofa and left Tx on for a tad too long and well the rest as you would say is history, but I know I'll be ok in about a weeks time, head still hurts though
Think I'm going to change it to 'are you still alive'

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
In the alarms menu, you can set the volume specifically for the inactivity alarm, in case it is too loud!
I added this as you can start the radio in "mute" mode, by holding BOTH MENU and EXIT down while you power on. This disables all voice and beep output, but the inactivity alarm then disables "mute mode" so you do hear it.

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
If you are using ersky9x for the first time, it is at full volume (as it should be), right??
I personally won't turn it down as sometimes at the field I walk away from my radio quite often. And it is difficult to hear it.
João
EDIT: I've changed it to "can be LOUD"
An alarm that you can't hear is absolutely useless

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
It defaults to a volume setting of 21, on a scale of 0 to 23, so not quite full volume but still loud.
I'm making good progress with sorting out where the voice files should be. For backward compatibility, most searches for files look in a specific directory first (system, user etc.), but if the file is not found there, the main voice directory is searched.
This means that numbered files will be split between system and user, although named files are now preferred where possible.
Mike.

We will have to check that all needed system files are really in the system folder. All the numbers could keep their current file name but just be placed inside the system folder. These should be the only files with numbers in this folder, right?
Thanks

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
A customer was confused by this statement. It took me awhile to understand where the confusion lie, but now I see it. The highlighted statement doesn't clarify what "it" is, and it could be read as "turn the inactivity alarm off". The confusion is understandable, given the context... you could be meaning that your family sleeping will thank you for shutting off an especially loud alarm (hence waking them) when I'm fairly sure you mean that they'll thank you for not burning them alive in the case of a lithium battery fire.jhsa wrote:Warning: The inactivity alarm (when you forget the radio ON) can be LOUD. If you are working on the radio, specially late at night when all your family is sleeping, and you need to leave it for a while, please turn it OFF. Your battery (and everyone else in the neighborhood) will thank you, specially if you use a Lithium battery to power the TX.
Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
Well, i did write the word "radio" before and in the same sentence, so I'm talking about "it".
I meant to say to turn the radio OFF, yes..
I will rephrase it in a while.
English is not my mother language. I do my best though..

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
You manage English better than most native speakers! You won't have any trouble eliminating the slight ambiguity. Cheers.

Re: Voice Packs for Ersky9x
The English language is the problem, not your use of it. It is ambiguous because the subject of the PHRASE is unclear, even if the subject of the sentence is. I think technically it is written correctly, but it could be written "more" correctly. In this case mistaking "it" drastically changes the intent.
Just replace "it" with "the radio"

Yeah that is what I thought.
