(Ar9x board be able to flash a bricked radio ?)

You will probably find purchasing an AR9X board the cheapest way to get the Tx running again, and you will have a much more powerful radio then!

Mike.

yeah, just get an Ar9x board, they are not that expensive and you will get a much more powerful tx with voice and all that..
Check it here

If you're trying to read the eeprom from the original firmware it's normal that companion doesn't recognise it.

In eepe, go to burn menu, and select " Read Firmware from TX". Give it a name, select the extension ".hex" and save it to the PC. See if that works..

EDIT: By the way, you have posted on the wrong forum.. This one is about the 9xtreme board, which is an upgrade board for the 9x radio and not a replacement for the stock board..

Ok, download the eeprom onto eepe. Then go to general settings and make sure the display contrast is set to about 25. If it is not, then change it to 25 and burn the eeprom back to the radio..

If that didn't fix the problem, go to the "Burn" menu in eepe and click read fuses. Post the output here. I would like to see which fuses are programmed..

Please post some good resolution pictures from your programmer..
Also I hope you didn't use the -F option. That can brick your radio.

For the 3rd time I will ask again. Can you please post pictures from your USBASP programmer? :o

But in the pictures you've posted I can see that your computer cannot see your programmer. So you either didn't install any drivers for your UsbAsp programmer, or the ones you installed are not good..

Joao sorry for that. Ok I was messing with driver thats why hire didnt recognized programmer. I made some progress since that.
I put 20mhz oscillator and in avrude atmega 128 is recognized. I want to change fuses to default 0e, 89, ff but coudnt change them I get this.
I think I need to find 1mhz oscillator. Hire are pictures.

Try reducing the "Bit Clock" speed from 1.5MHz to 375kHz.

Mike.

Hello Mike, I tried now, its same I tried all frequencies, same fault first missmatch at byte 0x0000.
IS my 20MHZ oscillator to high frequency? <But now it does read chip and also fuses BUT oscillator needs to be on if its off it doesnt recognizes chip. Joao I dont know what pictures did you want really.
avr now recognizes chip so drivers and settings of avr are ok. Greetings! Thanks for all the help.

Ok, the part marked on the picture is a resistor array and it seems to have a value of 220 Ohm. That might be too much and cause the chip not to be seen by the programmer.
Others can confirm that this resistor value is too high please.. It's been a while that I messed with an UsbAsp and a 9x radio. Never had this problem, but many did. I think I remember reading that the maximum acceptable resistor value is 100 Ohm?

If this is the case, you have two options, buy another known working UsbAsp programmer, or bypass the resistors by removing that resistor array and soldering some very thin wires across the pads. Please see pictures attached..

Thank you very much Joao! I removed resistor and use thin wires across contacts. Can you confirm fuses I must write in.Are they correct?
Thank you again!I will try now...

Use eepe to write the fuses. But do a read first to confirm it is working.
"Burn menu / Read fuses".
And then
"Burn menu / Set Fuses to Protect EEprom"

With this fuse setting your models and settings won't be wiped out every time you update the firmware.

Make sure the chip selected in eepe is the m128

It WORKS! It did write fuses but it only writes firmware if 20mhz oscillator is connected. tx is still dead when I try to power up...fw is upgraded ok
Maybee wrong fuses? Any ideas now? Thanks!

ok fuses writen are 0e, 81, FF. Is this ok that now it reads chip if oscillator is connected? It should read without now with fuses written right?
when I try to write fr er9-128 I get an error. I am stucked I think.

OK tx works its tricky I needed to put ail swith to off again and also throtle cut to off. Then I downloaded er9 normal version but chip selected was m128 not er9-128 with m128 selected. Now it works. OK now I need open tx so its same as my other tx so I can teach my son to fly with student teacher cable. Or er9 will work with opentx? Thanks for all really!

Good that is working.. See, that was why I was insisting on the pictures from the programmer :)
If you install er9x it will work in trainer mode with openTX, no problem.

er9x for the 9x radio is still being developed and maintained, while I think openTX for this radio is no longer being developed. The developers moved to other platforms..
er9x also supports the famous multiprotocol module on the 9x radio via serial. OpenTX doesn't. That means that with er9x you can just select the protocols in the protocol menu. In OpenTX you would have to use the rotary dial on the back of the radio, and PPM output, not serial..
It is up to you..

Ahh, the fuses written by eepe are the correct ones :)

ok so I will install er9x to my old tx and thats it... I had a problem with my models I think somethink about old firmware or something. I have 6 models on and a lot of mixings so I dont want to lose them. I use 2 tx modules one normal for smaller planes and one frsky ppm with telemetry for drone and without telemetry for mxs-r 32cc. I have converted tx modules so they are easyly removed from this tx too. If I can import models from opentx to er9x I will go to er9x no problem;)
Thank you!
