Drifting settings
Drifting settings
Hi there,
My stick values are slowly drifting in a couple of days. After calibrating the values it takes one or two days and the values are more than 10-20 off. I have installed ersky9x R218, this hasn’t solved the problem unfortunately.
Or am I supposed to calibrate every time for use

Re: Drifting settings
Unusual, are all the sticks drifting? Do they keep drifting further after more days?

Re: Drifting settings
The affected sticks are only throttle and roll. And the values are more drifting as the days go by.

Re: Drifting settings
Check that the pot bodies are not moving. This sounds like a mechanical problem.

I had this issue on the Ail. stick; I had to dismantle the stick, of course the pot was moving slightly.

Definitely not. The sticks should only need calibration when something changes.wiebren wrote:Hi there,

He guys, a little update from my side:
After all your feedback I decided to check the pot meters. They didn't feel loose but they showed a changing value when touched. So out came the hot glue, after I hot glued the pot meters they didn’t showed any changing values.
This was yesterday, and today the settings haven’t shifted…So thank you all for your feedback.

Hi wiebren,
The stock 9x Gimbals maybe unreliable.
You could upgrade them to the Taranis Gimbals (https://alofthobbies.com/frsky-taranis- ... imbal.html),
(viewtopic.php?f=95&t=4281&hilit=9x+Taranis+Gimbals).

Well the problem is back ... Bigger than ever:

Talked to the customers support of HK, they can't confirm a faulty gimbal . So I needed to sent the 9xr to the UK. The shipping costs are more than a taranis gimbal so the choise is easy.

Re: Drifting settings
Have them sending you (or buy) a replacement gimbal.. it is very cheap.

Re: Drifting settings
Apologies for reopening an old thread, but I had a similar problem with my 9xr pro. On investigation I found that the flat metal spring clips that secure the pots into the gimbal had been inserted the wrong way round. These clips are made with a bend to force the pots to locate firmly. They should be inserted so that the middle of the clip curves outwards away from the pot and towards the centre of the gimbal. The top and bottom of the clip is meant to push against the plastic and the little dimple in the clip is meant to locate in a recess in the plastic to keep the clip in position. If the little dimple on the spring clip is protruding outwards (i.e. away from the plastic) it indicates that the clip is in the wrong way round and so may allow the pot to move.
I found that the clips could be easily removed by inserting a small screwdriver into one of the little holes and carefully prising them up. After removing the clips one at a time and replacing them the right way round my drift problem was solved.
I am not suggesting anybody do this with their own transmitter unless they are confident they understand what they are doing and accept full responsibility themselves.
