Hi all,
I have Win7 and ersky9x, when I connect sometimes the ersky9x shows up as a GPS camera device. AND it adds it as another new com port. I'm up to com15 now!
Anyone know where in win7 to remove all these extra com ports?
Is there a way to make sure when I connect ersky9x that it doesn't think it's a GPS camera?
(Or did Brent add in some really cool GPS camera hardware so he can see us, and know exactly where we are?!?! )

Re: Windows 7 serial port problem
Showing as a camera device is not unusual, I get it as well.
Do you always plug the USB into the same port on the PC?
Mike.

Ah... you're correct. It's a laptop so I haven't been using the same port everytime.
Thanks

Re: Windows 7 serial port problem
Hey everyone. I found the answer and wanted to post it here so anyone else that needs this info can see it. In this thread about half way down is the fix.

But here's the important info...

But here's the important info...
Open a command window.
Now set an environment variable by entering the line
"set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" - without the quotes obviously
then enter
"start devmgmt.msc"
In the box that opens, select "Show hidden devices" in the 'view' menu.
Now if you expand the section on COM ports, all the COM ports that have ever
been created will be displayed, the non present ones being in grey. You can
uninstall away anything that you don't want (right click, select uninstall).
