Hello forum users,
I'm about to purchase a Taranis X9D +. I understand that the module that comes with it the X8R doesn't support CPPM and requires an adapter, which over here costs $30 + $13 which costs more than a D4R II receiver.
Which is the better choice? Get the adapter or the D4R2?
The DR42 is obviously lighter and smaller, which is a plus. But what does the X8R bring to the table since it's newer apart from the s-port? (Won't be using this port)
I could possibly sell the X8R receiver???

Depends what you want to do with it... can't you use the SBUS output directly?
Re: X9D + (X8R + Converter VS D4R II)
I am a complete noob. But I do own both and just setting both for testing. Sbus cppm aside, Major difference is the number of channels. With the new firmware flashed I think d4r2 will give you 6 channels (someone correct me) whereas x8r can do 16. That's 10 more. In addition, the 16 can be a combination of pwm and Sbus -- the rx pins are 9-16 in mode 4 binding. Very useful for fixed wing use (flaps don't need to go through FC). If your FC is cppm only, then answer is simple. But if it will do both, perhaps x series will be more flexible and feature proof?

A little correction here. The D4R-II gives you 8 channels in PPM mode, not 6.superslow wrote:With the new firmware flashed I think d4r2 will give you 6 channels (someone correct me) whereas x8r can do 16. That's 10 more.
The X8R can give you 16 channels, but only in S-Bus mode, as far as I know.
