Th9 and Taranis on one computer

Post by Daniel »

Is it possible to run two preconfigured Open9X systems, one for the Th9 and the other for the Taranis on one computer, without having to reconfigure everything each time

Use the profile feature in companion, that's what it's for :)

Thank you, but the profile does not change everything, there are to many things to change, this makes it very tedious and it is to easy to loose your last set up, as there appears to be more then one back up file for each type and they are difficult to locate and tell apart.
I already tried to run from separate icons, but windows always takes it to the last one which run, there must be a windows system .ii file which is loaded on execution.

I don't get what your problem is.

There is only one version of companion9x for both types of radios. You set in companion9x preferences the firmware type and options you need for one radio, save a profile, then change the firmware type and options for the other radio, save another profile, then you just need 2 clicks to load either profile from the companion9x toolbar before doing an action with the corresponding radio. All options relevant to the radio type should be reloaded.

Please explain exactly what doesn't work for you.

Yes it covers both radio's and it is absolutely briliant, providing you have only one radio and leave it set up for that radio, however when switching to and from Taranis to TGY9, it is virtually impossible to remember all the options and compiled file name correctly (amogst about 30 other very long file names)

But the profiles should do that automatically for you..

The prifile only changes the name of the prifile, the firmware selected remains unchenged, and all the prefrece boxes remain un ticked

I see the "problem":

Changing profile nr. in the prefences window is only for saving profile.
You have to select the desired profile under FILES -> FIRMWARE PROFILES.

Maybe it would be a bit more clear if there would be a "Select Profile" button
near the "Save Profile" button.

I agree that it is a bit hard to understand exactly what switching profiles in companion9x does. There are also a couple of issues regarding which settings depend on the profile and which are global. Some parts of the code sees it one way while other parts take the opposite standpoint.

The issue with the download settings being global might be one of these (I do not remember).

The profiles will be much more visible and easier to understand in Companion 2. The profile settings have been split out to a separate tab in the settings dialog.
