Frsky Hub and Er9x
Hello,
I recently updated my 9x to er9x with smartieparts board and Telemetrez. I have a Frsky DJT TX and a D8R XP receiver with telemetry. I have the Frsky Er9x firmware on the Er9x. I have a frsky sensor hub hooked up to the D8R and a voltage sensor and a temp sensor hooked up to it.
I am not sure how i have to program everything in Eepe to see the voltage and RSSI and temp values. Right now when i turn everything on the transmitter just shows 0.0v and 0 for Tx and 0 for RX RSSI.
Can anyone send me in the right direction in order to see the values on my screen?
Thanks
Charlie

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Have you plugged the serial port for the tx module into the relevant port on the TeZ.
You should at a minimum get the rssi

Yeah I have the telemez connected to the DJT. There is no data at all. Ill post some pics later.

You connected the wires the right way round?

Well just checked and thats how the pic shows it on the smartieparts instructions.

Try swap the tx and rx around.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Nevermind. I had the plug in the wrong pins on the DJT. The plug has 5 open female spots for pins and there are only 4 pins in the DJT. I had them down one pin. Its working now. Now i just need to know how to get the right volts to show up. I am using 3S 3300 mah battery. What do i put in the A2 volt field?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
3.3V * the ratio of the divider you used to connect the battery to the receiver's A2 port.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
What do you mean by the ratio of the divider? Im using the sensor in the pic above and the frsky hub to connect to receiver.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Do you mean that since my voltage meter can read up to 6S i multiply 3.3 x 6?
Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Ah - well, then it's not A2 that you want
You'll need Ctot selected in the custom display.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Your pictures do NOT show any power connected to the hub, the 3-pin connector (larger pitch) just above the RPM connector.
You do NOT have anything connected to the A2 input of the receiver. Using the sensor in your picture, the value you need to display is Ctot (standing for Cells Total). You do have a link on A1, so this should give you the receiver voltage. There is a built in 4:1 divider, so go to the TELEMETRY menu, then beside A1 channel you should see a reading of 0.0v. Change the 0.0 to 13.2 (4 times 3.3). The value on the right should show you the actual voltage reading.
In passing, I would say the battery you have connected needs balancing, cell 3 (4.2V) is MUCH higher than cells 1 and 2 (3.88V and 3.90V).

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
How did he get the hub powered without the power cord connected? I was trying to power the hub with one of those port other than the power connection but I couldn't. :-S

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Thanks a lot mike. I didnt realize the hub needed powering. Also How am I getting any data without the power on the hub.
So the pins with the jumpers on it is A1 and the middle is A2 then whats the third for?
Thanks also i will balance my lipo. thanks for the heads up.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
3rd (where you connected the hub) is serial data.
The RSSI information you were receiving doesn't come from the hub, it comes from the receiver itself.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
ok thanks. Does the hub get powered from an empty channel on the receiver? What gets connected to the serial data pins on the receiver?
Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Maybe this picture can help you to understand the power question

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
OK I powered the hub from the receiver. Now has a green light on it. I moved the data connection from the hub to the middle pins on the receiver which should be A2 right? I changed A2 Volts to 13.2 in the setup. Now I am getting a reading on A2 of 0.8 - 2.3v. Its switches quickly through that range.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
You had the hub right before, plug into the serial pins, not A1 or A2.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
OK i moved it back. So it always stays in the serial pin from the hub and wherever the jumper is is where it corresponds on the transmitter? I put the A1 to 13.2V and now my reading is 5.1v. On one of the screens it shows each cell of my battery and those numbers are right. V1=3.89 v2=3.90 v3=4.20.

Are you sure the voltage monitor I have is 4:1? Even though its meant for up to 6S?

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
By fitting the link on A1, you are connecting the RECEIVER voltage to the A1 input, so 5.1V is about right. Some people use an external voltage divider from the main power pack into A1 or A2 to measure its voltage. You are using the specific sensor, that does not use A1 or A2, which is why you need to use Ctot to get the main battery voltage.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
The ratio is ONLY for the analog sensors plugged in the A1 and A2 ports. Your lipo sensor is a digital sensor that reports the values numerically as they are, all the radio has to do is display them.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
When I use CTOT it only shows 0. Anything else i have to do?
Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
You need:
- Hub power cable connected to a free channel, hub LED should be on
- Hub data cable connected to the data port, black on G side
- Data OUT of the lipo sensor connected to Volt/A on the hub
- FrHub selected as the protocol on the telemetry setup page
If you see your cells' voltages in the telemetry view, the Ctot should also work.

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Thanks. I have it all setup like that. When I first had it setup I was getting the individual cell voltages but now I'm not. They are just blank on the screen. I think I had the hub plugge into the A2 slot and not the data port. I could be wrong though. What coul I be doing wrong that I use to see the cells now I don't ?

Re: Frsky Hub and Er9x
Do i need to upgrade my hubs firmware? I have seen that mentioned on a few posts?
