Has The Site Slowed Down?

Since around yesterday evening the site has taken ages to load up. The same applies to any posts that I have made. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes before anything happens.

All other sites and other activities are okay.

Has been fine for me - I've not been off it for 3 days :-) Maybe I'm loading it down with all my ramblings ;-)

Out external monitoring has been showing high packet loss on the global crossing back bone. (one of the large ip transit providers)

I would think that if you are seeing a slow down, then chances are you are somewhere on the "other side" of global crossing.

Not sure if that makes sense to anyone?

Well... The problem still continues to annoy me.. Lost a couple of posts that I had completed that didn't make it through. I have found another site that I visit has started to act the same way. So I guess that this issue hasn't been resolved by whoever it may be out there in WWW World.

I experienced similar things here. typing a reply only at the time of 'submit' found out I was logged out and had to log in 'again' and lost all the typing 3,4 times in the past couple days.

yes, I know. I guess it may have something to do with the Chinese hacking into US gov network..... reported in the news. ;)

I had some problems in the past due to my broadband line dropping out frequently. I got in the habit of marking all my test and doing a CTRL-C just before the submit. Then, if it failed, I could easily paste it all back in. You might also find using the BACK button on your browser might get you back to the page on which your text is still available.

Mike.

maybe the sub that sits in the ocean tapped into the fiber lines nicked the line with it's prop :)
really though. I hate routing issues. They just leave you so helpless

It's always quick for me. I've been impressed with how little Rob has throttled the search function. on a lot of these forums it's really locked down, I've always assumed due to the resources. I did notice a little stuttering when he was messing with the country flags, but it is fine now and was probably just my imagination all along.

Most likely the links from SA to the UK!

Believe you have to get to us via the USA, so lots of latency.

Thanks.. Yes I have always been a woman.. Makes things difficult at times down the flying field.. Fortunately there is a sports centre near the field that I can use if needs must. :)

I just gave one reason for what keeps us away.. We did have another woman in our club, but she was fairly young and lost interest in it as life took over.

I wish my wife was interested in flying airplanes. :)

Our club changed it's emphasis to a family friendly activity several years ago. Last year we had three lady AMA members, and while one dropped out, another has taken her place. We also have about 12 to 15 minor children -- 3 that don't have parents involved. My Hypothesis -- is either 1. that men already know they are a wreck so another crash is no big deal but women are programmed by society to be appearance conscious so they avoid crashing by avoiding flying. or 2. Men have no control over their lives, so they feel that if they can at least control this one little airplane life will be better.

Scott while I agree that for some (many I suppose) is a question of control, for others, like myself, is all about our love for aviation in General.. I love flying. models or 1:1 aircraft.. I don't say real aircraft because I consider models real aircraft, and as such they all deserve/require the same respect and attention..
