HK 450 clone with Flymentor

Post by Charliechan »

Finally finished mounting the flymentor and completed the eepe file for the 9XR which has er9X firmware. Thanks to Ghost for the help. The radio does not use a stock template, no swash type, file includes several curves more than I used. Limits are +/- 100, no sub trims, the gyro channel 4 is inverted, I used my original gyro so the flymentor tail setup is not shown. Channel 7 has P3 as controlling the position/balancing modes. I'm sure the install can be fine tuned, for example expos, I am still learning on that. Maybe this will help someone.

The 9XR's firmware is very outdated, so using the current version of eepe with it will cause errors.

Flymentor experts .....

do you set up the heli on normal 120 CCPM ... and get it all sorted and levelled ... then fly and trim ... and then change to the no swash setup?

I will answer my own question with a YES!

I put your config to test and it does not have any ID1 or ID2 throttle mixes.

Can anyone tell me if this flymentor is as good as (or better) than that Co Pilot II unit ?

Will Co Pilot work with a 9x ok?

As far as I know, co pilot requires a lot of setting up and more bits and pieces to install , flymentor although like most things in this hobby seems difficult at first but once u get into it , it's easy to play with. It's very good at its job and holds a Heli very well on its own .. Makes your Heli fly like a co axial , I have read a lot about copilot vs flymentor and fm seems to be winner . I think the problem with co pilot is the installation of the gadgets ..

Thanks josuahj

I'm looking at both systems. The FMentor is way cheaper.

Lots of servo leads all over the place with Co Pilot. That puts me off. I hate leads & cables everywhere.

I still can't decide. Maybe I'll get the FM and save for the Co Pilot later as I want 2 setups eventually.

Cheers,

BF :)

I have set up a few for people .... they are a real head blow .... to get your head around it .... I sorted it out and The guys I did it for .... love it! it is set up just like a CO axial.... the big ... BIG downside .... is if you do not know how to fly??? then you need to get someone to set it up first. Because for FM to work ... the heli must be set up to fly normally first! then and only then can you get an easy fly out of it.

I have successfully set up ER9x with it and it worked a treat ... had it set up to fly without it on a switch (Normal flight) and then click the switch and you go auto levelling ..... The Gyro in them for the Tail are absolute rubbish .... get a decent gyro and bypass the one in there for the tail .... Just my humble opinion based on my experiences with them....

Here is a video of one I set up...

Thanks Westy

I'm going to try the CPII

More wires but I think easier to set up?

Cant be any harder I hope. I think the CPII is compatible with FB'less and the FM isn't ?

Cheers,

BF :)

Yes fm is for flybar , I have set up plenty of Helis straight into fm without setting them up first . I mean you can builda Heli with fm straight off , obviously u need to be able to build a Heli etc and know how to set them up ..
