Template WL v911

Post by kille »

Hi,
based on the template from blackmoon I have also created a template for the micro helicopter WL v911.
I have integrated the things described in my post Wl V929 template.
Elevator, ailerons and rudder are mixed with a curve that make the helicopter accurate.
The maximums can adjust with P1 and P3.
With the switch ID you can change the throttle curve.

Regards
Kille

No trick, the file seems somehow corrupt. I have eepe r358(latest) and it still does not open.

Please excuse the problems. I have no problems to open it with Companion9x.
I have checked it with eePe and it is also for me not possible to open it with eePe.
Is there a way to convert it?

That explains it. It is an open9x file. eepe will only open er9x files. I loaded it in companion9x, and indeed it does just open it. Companion will also convert the file to er9x, which then does open with eepe.
I think there should be a different file extension for open9x files. Er9x and Eepe chose .eepe. Maybe companion could use .op9x for any open9x eeproms? Or whenever we upload files we will have to say what firmware they were created for. Just opening them and allowing companion to do the conversion isn't a good idea, as the conversion isn't always accurate.

I've implemented a simple fix, but one thing is worth a little discussion...
Currently I simply change the file filter for saving, and replace .eepe to .c9x for saving only, but that means that even when we save an er9x file with c9x we can't save them as .eepe although eepe would be able to open them. Do we make an exception for er9x, i.e. still allow saving as .eepe files if the selected firmware is er9x?

Maybe you should always save as a companion 9x format... But do an 'export' option to save as an alternative format?

Really not an easy thing to fix. The mode of companion is to support all firmwares. In reality it is more an open9x tool. For no reason other than that its developers use open9x!

Don't know... Maybe you should keep support to one firmware chain... Then do an import export option?

Probably would simplify things!

Kille,
Anyway, I have ported your 911 file for the 9958 and added some mixing to try to damp out some of the inherent bad "self mixing" of FP helis. I am at work, will post that file( for eepe ) when I get home. Each heli type is different and one has to adjust the percent of mixing.

another file extension is in my opinion a good idea.

Hi mmilan,
I have also the same helicopter. I'm very curious to test your file.

kille,
Here is the eepe file for the Xeida 9958. It uses Pot 2 to vary the throws of the elevator and ailerons. The mixes under ch2 (elevator) can be ajusted to counter any pitch changes from using ailerons or rudder. Seems that fixed pitch helis cross control to a varied extent, thus the mixes to attempt to tame that down. Any comments would be appreciated.

Try pulling your throttle trim back as low as it goes. Then after lift off you will need to go full up trim to get full throttle.

Wow, lots going on here, and frankly, I doubt I understand even half of it. For instance, exactly what is happening on ch. 14, and where is it being called? Is there any way to add comments to these things to explain what's going on and why? I realize that TrmX are sources, but what physical control does that represent, i.e. the Thr source is the left stick if your radio is running mode 2. This is all VERY confusing for newbs, so anything that could clear up some of the confusion would be hugely helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

Dave
