Radio beeping and beeping

This is a Radiomaster TX12. Firmware is 2.3.11.
When I try to use Companion the radio starts beeping and beeping. No message, no alert. I shut it down. Companion loades and works, but you can't turn it off unless you pull the USB or shut off the computer. Radiomaster doesn't know what this either. Also, the battery voltage is going up to 8.2 while this is happening, all of a sudden starts going back down... maybe 7.5 by the time the computer shuts off. The voltage is calibrated and correct.
Anybody ever seen this?
