MikeB wrote: Sat Jun 04, 2022 9:45 pm I've posted a new test version. In the "Statistics" area is a new menu labelled "REPORT". This contains text of debug information, up to 100 lines. When this menu shows, press ENTER to stop the screen index flashing (6/8?), then the encoder will scroll the text.

This text should indicate what is happening when reading/creating the RADIO directory, and also when playing a voice file.
There is also a change where I detect an input indicating the board type, and I do something different when starting the audio driver depending on the board type.

Verzia "SDtest2" funguje lepšie a ukladá nastavenia rádia a modelov. 8-)

Zvuk, screenshot (0kb) nefunguje.
The voice file cannot be inserted anywhere. (choose)

I stop the cursor blinking 6/8 (Report).
The screen shows:

Again, SDtest2 no longer saves radio and model settings
Overrides the model name when changing the model.

I believe the voice files are playing OK, but there is a problem with enabling the audio amplifier. I'm looking into this.
To find out why setting are not being saved, please flash the SDtest3 I've just posted.
Start the radio, then select another model. This should force a save of radio, model and model name settings.
Now go to the REPORT menu and let me know what is reported. You will likely need to scroll down to get all the reports.

Mike

Edit: SDtest4 also posted, this may have the audio amplifier always enabled.

I have SDtest3

I renamed Model01 and changed the background color.
Then I selected position 02 (Model02) and took the display. (it's whole, it doesn't go down anymore)
Off and on and the changes are gone.

That tells me an actual write to the SD card is failing. I'll need to add some more debug in the lower level code to find out why!
Does SDtest4 voice now work?

I guess I ran into something (bug).
Changes are saved unless I set (use) the switch on "Screenshot". Then it goes wrong and nothing is saved and model names change, etc.

New test version posted (SDtest5).
I've added more debug to the report, including some in the screenshot process.
Please flash, then start the radio normally.
1. Change models, settings should be saved.
2. Do a screenshot.
3. Change models again.
Then let me know what is on the report screen.
To make the report easier to see, all 100 lines are now shown, with unused lines containing "----".

No sound at all. (SDtest5)
Selecting the "screenshot" switch may damage the SD card. Again, changes cannot be saved. It cannot be opened after connecting to a PC.

New test version posted (SDtest6).
Please repeat the test for SDtest5.
There are over 40 places in the file handling where a disk error is reported. This test version should tell me where this is happening. It may be a write to the SD card that is failing (may be a timeout), or it may be the file handling. It is possible that if the SD access does get a timeout, I may not be recovering the hardware driver so it locks up.

As well as the REPORT menu, the DEBUG menu also has a count of the number of physical reads and write that have failed, the two values on the line starting "SD Errors".

OK, new test version. This reports SD write timeouts. It also then extends the timeout to see if it then completes.
The DEBUG menu also shows the total number of writes carried out.
Please try a screenshot again.

I'm still looking at the audio problem.

Please could you also let me know what is in the DEBUG menu (SD Write Count value).
Do you hear anything from the audio, particularly just at the end of the "STARTING" screen is there a "click"?

It seems some disk writes are taking a long time as extending the timeout let some writes complete.

No, I can't hear.
I added a DEBUG photo

In my transmitter works fine.
I set the screenshot switch, activate several times, changed model settings (two models), changed displays, switched off the transmitter… all were saved.

8th test version posted. I've extended the SD write timeout to 210 mS. It seems SD cards may, sometimes, have a latency of up to 200mS, when they are doing some internal changes to do with "wear levelling".

Success! *It's already working. I bought SD Verbatim Pro microSDHC 32GB UHS-I V30 U3 (90R / 45W)
https://www.verbatim.com/prod/flash-mem ... microsdhc/
It would also like to fine-tune it for a standard SD card with a write of 10 MB / s.
*Only sound doesn't work anymore.

Choosing a screenshot switch cuts a bit.
Statistics window 6/8 freezes.

Have you tried SDtest8 with the original SD card?
The screenshot takes several seconds to write to the SD card, and the screen image has to be fixed while that is done.

I'm looking to see why the audio is not sounding.
