I wouldn't want one even if it was given to me  but just my opinion..
Actually I have refused one.. A friend wanted to give one to me.. I didn't want it :D
So, too expensive still
I know, João, just shut up!! :)

EDIT: There is only a couple things that radio has that are good. Gimbals and sliders to install on my 9x radios with Ar9x boards.. Ok, a bigger LCD. But all the rest puts me off.. Bad button placement, no rotary encoder, 32Kb of eeprom only, not very good for modding with bluetooth for example, etc.. 9x radio all the time, no question about it :)

Hi João,
You could be the first to mod the TARANIS-X9D-PLUS with a rotary encoder / upgrade the chip and maybe add bluetooth too. ;)
I am hoping ! :D ...... (can not do the radio-mods without the radio).

Ersky9x already supports replacing one of the pots with a rotary encoder on the Taranis, or adding it as an extra item using the extra analog input on the Plus.
It also supports the addition of one or two push buttons using the JTAG connections.

Yes, but no way to install the excellent rotary encoder plus the directional keys that we use on the 9x radio. :)
We have been spoiled by that (at least I was) :) No way I would be moving backwards by getting a Taranis.. ;) I consider any of my radios far better.. But that is only my opinion, of course :)

I wonder if the excellent rotary encoder could be installed on the side or back
and use one of the (front stupid ) buttons to activate it On and Off,
so not to accidentally press it (change settings) when flying.

Hm, as far as I know the taranis has a back pcb that might not allow for that?
on the back of my radios I have push buttons installed.. very useful.. The encoder is installed replacing the old directional keys.

I do not have one of the excellent rotary encoder to see where it may be installed.
Like the 9x, the the Taranis buttons are mounted on the front side (pcb),
there maybe room to mount it in the same place as the 9x.
Those, there is not much room on the front.

The display is not as big as the protective cover of the front, may be able to cut into it for more room ?

If the Qx7 rotary encoder becomes available, maybe it would be something to see if it could be used.

Nope, this encoder will never fit the front of the taranis.. Not with that big LCD in there :)
It's not only an encoder, it also has 4 directional keys and a center button..

Maybe the Qx7 controls (when they become available) will work with the Taranis-X9D.

Bob, the problem is not connecting the 7 way encoder to the Taranis. The problem is to physically install it..
I don't think it would be any easier to install the QX7's encoder on the older Taranis..
At best you can try to install one of those encoders (with a button) that looks like a pot, making a hole somewhere, or replacing one of the switches or pots..
