Plans to support ersky9x?

Post by Hexperience »

Hi Erazz,

I was just wondering if eePe will support ersky at some point and if so, do you have any news on that front?

Cheers!! and thanks for all your hard work.

Companion 9x already does. It's basically the same thing.

Maiden Fest has been canceled. MAAC will not sanction the event becase, according to MAAC rules you can not maiden an aircraft in the presensce of specktators. The aircraft must be deemed flight worthy and tested before flying at an event. I do understand thier point. I just hope they rename the event and ask for people to pre-maiden their planes.

If I hear more about it I'll let you know.

Yep, I've seen some bugs in C9x and was wondering if Erazz is going to continue on eepe. I know they'll work out the bugs on C9x sooner or later.

Wth. Maac, that totally contradicts what we were told at our meetings from maac safety guy. Claire.

Omg, you can't maiden a craft unless its deemed air worthy anyways... This isn't the place to bash maac once again.... Grrr..

Claire is the one the canceled it from what I hear. But I don't get involved with all that kind of thing. I just want to fly and help out around the field... cut the grass like Forest Gump.

Not in my neighborhood.

Turns out the event is still on, they just renamed it and are asking folks to maiden their planes before hand.... It's called Ultimate Fun Fly now.

I need to look at how to support this. Unfourtunately I have zero time to do so.
I'll probably just scoot over and steal stuff from companion.

Better yet, give their developers commit rights :)

I get the feeling that C9x is getting pretty big pretty fast. Many firmwares on many boards. It's amazing how fast this is all happening all of a sudden.

IMO eepe is pretty much redundant by now... well it already was a month ago when I started with this 9x stuff. I installed both, just to see that C9X did all eepe did, plus lots more...

Does it still make sense to maintain both?

You could say that all the FW is redundant. Basically th9x, er9x, gruvin and open9x are all very similar.

C9x tries to be a holder for every fw while eePe focuses on er9x. I maintain er9x and eePe so they will always work together.

Point being, each provides something different. Variety is an advantage. You have a choice! That's not redundant. :)

As long as I continue to use er9x FW I will rely on eePe as it's supporting 'puter pgm for those very reasons. Thanx again erazz!

So back to my original question... ;)

Is ersky9x (the firmware not the board) going to be included in eePe? Or will there be eSKYePe..e ? :)

By the way, personally, I'd like to see ersky9x firmware and board have different names. So it's a bit more clear in the forums. Or just call is er9x4ersky?

Did you ever see Moscow on the Hudson, with Robin Williams? He's in the coffee isle in a supermarket and freaks out because there are so many coffee's to choose from...

I'd like to have either eepe, or a variant, support ersky9x. I don't really have the time to do it though, or if I do, then very little will happen to ersky9x. I've played a little with eepe, but not really got into QtCreator (yet?) Any takers?
I think it should be a separate program to eepe, as ersky9x evolves it will probably move away from er9x so the two may be sufficiently different the eepe would become difficult to maintain for both. Perhaps, as long as there is a way to get saved models from er9x into ersky9x, two different programs won't be a problem.

I think going forward, there will be a need for at least a converter, or the new ersky-eepe will need to load the old eepe files. As Brent sells more boards people will want to just copy over thier models.

At this point though, all I really would like is a way to backup all my models, with the corrisponding version of ersky9x firmware.

When using SAM-BA how can we read the entire eprom and then write it back if we need it? I don't care about edititing it on the pc, just a backup! ;)

Have you installed the applet?
If you have, then when you run SAM-BA, you have a tab called serial flash, select it, then run the script Enable Serail Flash.
You can now enter a start address (0x0000), and a size (0x80000), and a receive filename. Then just click on receive file and the entire contents of the external flash(EEPROM) will be read (512Kbytes). Only the first 0x22000 bytes are currently used.
