Better than stock antenna?

Post by Tr3TopFlyer »

I'm sorry if this has been covered before. I did do a search and didn't find much of anything. I've owned my Taranis now for several months and I really appreciate the incredible things I can program it to do. I have noticed some reduced range when using the X series Rx's with a 1.3GHz VTx for FPV. I've been able to mitigate some of that with a low pass filter on the VTx and careful placement of the Rx in relation to the VTx but I'm wondering if there is a better antenna that can be put on the Taranis itself to optimize range? I'm using the PCB dipoles on the receivers.[/size] I have heard that using 1.3GHz VTx with frsky 2.4 is a known issue but I'm not sure that's true. I know that without the low pass filter it's an issue for any 2.4 RC system because of the 2nd harmonic of 1.3GHz. Is this a bigger problem for frsky 2.4 for some reason?

Use a notch filter. It should solve your problems.
