Teranis & X8R telemetry question
Teranis & X8R telemetry question
Hi,
I have finished setting up my new Discovery quad with the teranis and an X8R receiver. My question is regarding the telemetry built in to the X8R. Will this read the actual voltage of my flight pack (4s Lipo 4000mah)? Or does it read the voltage that is going in to the X8R, 5v I think? If I want to see actual lipo voltage do I need to buy an additional telemetry unit? Thanks for any help.
Cheers, Rich

Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
The rx on it's own will only show you the voltage of the BEC you are using, so 5V.
If you want to monitor your LiPo voltage you will need a separate sensor such as the FLVSS

Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
Thought as much. I can see the voltage through my FPV goggles so not desperate for this feature. However I would like it for the odd occasion when not flying FPV.
Is there a way to turn off the Telemetry on the taranis so it does not show the bec voltage. When it's set to zero it still shows on the screen as zero if that makes sense.

Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
I designed this:
http://www.t9hobbysport.com/analogue-vo ... r-receiver
to easily provide a voltage input for the X8R. I believe openTx supports the resulting value.
Alternatively, if 6 channels are enough, you could get a X6R. With that, you have access to the voltage sensor and can fit a voltage divider to measure the flight pack voltage.

What do you set the warning numbers to if using the telemetry to see the 5v? Thanks.

Anyone please. Can't find an answer to this?three6ty wrote:Hi,rilot wrote:The rx on it's own will only show you the voltage of the BEC you are using, so 5V.

Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
As said if you use a BEC the reading and alarms make no sense and are useless. They will show 5v whatever the charge of your battery.
Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
Can you turn off the telemetry relating to the bec voltage? Or do you just put 0.00 in to the telemetry settings page?
Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
0 as Range does the job.
Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
I was kind of hoping it could be turned off so you don't see 0.00v on the screen all the time when flying. Not that I look at the screen all the time ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Mike I get a page not found when I follow that link. I'm interested in the device.MikeB wrote:I designed this:

It moved! Try:

Re: Teranis & X8R telemetry question
Oh right! Wayne at Aloft sells these too. I'll pick one up for my X8R. I only have one as my others are X6Rs and they have the analog port which is nice.MikeB wrote:It moved! Try:
