Template for Bixler2 with flaps?

Post by dusty2 »

Just getting started in this game and have much to learn. I have a flysky TX9X and have flashed it to opentx but its on hell of a learning curve. If someone has a template for this plane It would help me learn about how things are done. It is pretty much the same plane as the bixler 1.2 and Easy star II and several others but has flaps.

Thanks in advance

Check the speedo iix template I posted.

It does much of what you want.

...........if you think it should be in the wiki.. ask me for wiki access, then go add it!

Try the "use model config wizard" under the templates tab on companion9x. That will set up the model with flaps on the AIL switch, adjustable by P2. It also adds slow flap deployment. From there you can adjust the mixes your to your specific needs.

That is another way to do it.. :)

When you have got your head around that. It would be worth adding the sticky throttle (Sticky T-Cut) to your setup. It has saved me a few times when I have pushed the throttle stick accidentally.

With the flaps down you might wish to add a little down elevator when they are selected... Play around with that in companion. You do it by adding another mix to the elevator channel.

I have a Skysurfer which is very much like the Bixler. On launching it, it has a tendency to head into the ground (due in part to the pusher configuration) if you don't give it a strong throw. My throw isn't all that good, so I have added a little up elevator (via a switch) for take off. That allows me enough time to get my hands back on the sticks. Just remember to switch it out at some point on the climb out.

Have fun. :)

Launching with both hands?? :o :D
Or just launching with the wrong hand?? ;) I use my throttle hand to launch. the other stays on the controls. ;)
Of course, I prefer aircraft with some wheels, big ones if possible as I fly from grass, and a big powerfull engine to pull the aircraft up, vertical.. preference for a noisy one. And that's me sorted

One hand holds the TX... Other hand throws the model.. No wheels due to the added drag they create. The motors we use are powerful enough to climb at a good rate the we turn it off to glide gracefully searching for that lift that allows us to stay up for longer than the few minutes that other fliers have to put up with. Sorted! :P

well, I just fill the tank again and off I go.. I love doing touch and go's anyway, and other stuff that planes without wheels can't do
Oh, The only time I love gliding is when the motor stops
But what is this topic about again?? :) ;)

This is about a file for the Bixler 2 to include flaps, and let's say a bit of spoilerons thrown in to make it a CROW. Ohh.. Don't forget some down elevator compensation when they are activated. :) No GVARS please!!!

I have an easystar that is quite similar, but I did straighten the wing with a hair dryer ;) and cut some ailerons in it.. ;)
When I apply flaperons, my plane doesn't suffer from that pitching up disease. Maybe because I slow the plane down first and then apply flaps slowly ;) :D
