Interferences between diferent 9X TX

Post by nikitz »

At our local air field, we are using mainly 9X transmiters. Most of them are with Er9x firmware with stock 2.4 Ghz modules. Unfortunately there are strange oneway interference between some of them. For exsamples TX "A" is working normal, whileTX "B" is OFF. When turning ON TX"B" the receiver of TX'A" starts to lag - there are delay with the commands around 0.5-1sec which is enough for plane crash. The " A" transmiter is not able to jitter "B". From 10 9x transmiters we are having two pairs interferencing with each other. For me its a quite big % number.

Do you have the same problems???
Is it possible to be removed?

regards
Nikitz

This is really not an issue with the radio - but rather the rubbish rf system that the stock system uses!

There is good reason why people swap the modules out for frsky-rc rf modules :)

oh oh... I know that the stock RF system is rubbish but it is the first time I read about interference. :o I'm so glad I moved to FrSky...

Here's a video I made showing on a low cost spectrum analyzer the frequency hopping characteristics of the 9x stock rf module . It also shows a dsm2 module. When making the video it did appear the 9x stock module usually used the lower end of the bandwidth for binding, but after that it freq hopped across the whole ISM band. I dont have any experience using multiple 9x stock modules at the same time. good luck

Very interesting. Please do more comparisons.
What were your conclusions regarding the 9x stock module vs the dsm2 as far as hopping? My iPods screen is small.
It's been said that the dsm2 protocol doesn't hop and leaves it open to link loss. The 9x module seems to be better but lacks failsafe.
Any comparison with a Frsky module done yet?
I ask because of my planes lost over the years to dsm2 and none with the Frsky. I see stock 9Xs at the field and they also seem to stay in the air.
I do see Spektrum loss of link crashes that draw a crowd of experienced flyers.
BTW,
What's the price range of your analyzer?

My original post related to this video
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... 3031#p3031

The hardware uses java based software, works in linux. At one time heard it was discontinued. Not sure. I got the version with an external antenna. Total cost was ~$50, IIR.
http://www.ubnt.com/airview

This is all from memory, it's been awhile since the video was made.

Dsm2 only hops between 2 frequencies for a data link. Those 2 frequencies vary each time the link is instigated. Bruce voices concerns about the 2 freq sometimes being adjacent. I never saw that in my limited testing..

The stock 9Xv2 module hops between 15? Freq. When binding it usually used the lower end of the ISM band.

Sorry but I dont have any Frysky hardware
