9XR Separate Section?

Post by Daedalus66 »

Now that the Turnigy 9XR is actually on sale, will there be a separate section here for the firmware?

I dont mind... But not sure the 9xr will get a specific firmware - but rather the open9x / er9x will be made to run on it?

So maybe more suited to the hardware section?

Maybe we don't really need to do any mod to the radio.. It seems to support er9x from the beginning..

Naw -- everything needs a mod. AT LEAST a nice coat of paint.

I'll be surprised if it's different enough from a 9x to need separate firmware. I won't be surprised if programming header is attached to a daughter board similar to the Smartieparts programmer.

When the Frsky radios come out, it might be time to add a new section. The hardware differences will probably make the firmware versions diverge.

I think it has no programmer (daughter board) but it has a connector ready to connect a programmer..
It's a shame that we probably still have to do the telemetry mod, as the er9x version they released is the basic one.. would be so easy for them to have made the mod in the factory.. but I'm just guessing at the moment of course.. :D

But how would they have made the telemetry connection? The only practical way would have been with a wire hanging on the outside between the module and radio... not very clean to sell to already confused end-users.

Little plug on the back cover, like for example a 3,5mm jack plug or other.. then a little connection cable to the DJT module.. easy and it wouldn't void any warranty or conformity certificate
