Broken Data after Flashing new FW

Post by Cerberus »

I have the Companion9X 1.07 build 1532 . I updated Companion and also Companion9X downloaded new FW for Sky9X. I went to reflash my radio, also I marked BackUp and restore EEPROM context. Everything went smoot, but when I powered Up radio it showed screen converting EEPROM and only Model Names stayed, all settings gone. So I tried open backUp file and its saying invalid file. So I try open OLD EEPROM only EEPROM saved for old Gruvin PCB I can Open, not EEPROM for ARM MC. I have to do whole setup againg.
Just my 2 cents...Wouldn't be good sit and design EEPROM structure and after that just updating FW? It is second time I have to do all again. Even I can't restore backups from SD Card. Or if the Format of EEPROM change put RED Warnings that it will screw EEPROM Data so check what you can do. Without that warning...For Now I'm not happy. I cannot restore anything prior this version.

Ok... But you can!

Best option to restore old settings is to
Do as follows.

1. Open the backup file in companion so you can see the models in the one window.

2. Download the empty config from the radio.

3. Drag and drop each model from old to new window.

That should do it?

Best thing is to update often - that way you dont risk the firmware being too different!

Also.. double check all your models before flying! Never know if something has changed by accident!

Quick tip, you can also drag the general settings from one file onto the other :)

The problem is that only file from backup I can read is the one from gruvin9X. All other *.bin backups companion saying Invalid EEPROM File. So I cannot get the System settings for ER9X(ARM) only for Gruvin9X. I just saying that I cannot open any ARM backUp *.bin or *.eepe file, that why I'm not happy. But thanks for all inputs.

I think he means the sdcard backups?

I know these tend to go 'invalid' if you upgrade your epprom.

Are you able to build companion by yourself ?
I can commit a fix, but I would like to discuss it with Bertrand before releasing a new executable.

I did try to compile, but showing still some errors, so some bad setup under Win7. Do not worry about that just for future refernces. I will work on the compiling later or you can send it to me by email compiled version. Or PM me link to download manually. Thanks for hard and fast work.
