How to set the 3 position switch for flaps ?

Post by MojoMaestro »

Hi guys,

Today i added flaps to my Cessna 182.
i decided to use the 3 position switch to
control them because that way i can use
ID0 = 0 ° normal flight position,
ID1= 45° take off position,
ID2= 60° landing position.

The only problem is after reading so much info on it i'm just lost. :?
Can someone tell me the simple way.

Start with the basics.

1. Add an additional mix to the channel that controls the flap servo.
2. Configure the mix to use 'full' as the source.
3. Configure the weight of the mix. (how far the flaps move)
4. Configure the mix to only work when switch is assigned to id1.

Test... Repeat for id2

Etc...

Most models need a bit of down elevator compensation, one of mine needs 40% down when I lower the flaps
just add two mixes, use max as source and ID1 & ID2 to switch in the elevator mixes, I highlight the mix amount and adjust the mix while flying

I just trim the model for landing like on the real airplane.. :)
You could also control an elevator offset with a pot.. once you find the right value with the pot then you insert the number permanently in the mix..

Here's an example. I used the phases so all you have to do is put the flaps down and use the trim to adjust the elevator.

I normally start with a mix of 20%, then adjust as required!

But now that I have a rotary encoder n open9x, this should be easy to set in flight :-)

What.. the encoder? Not sure the stock board has enough spare ports.

According to me, the most straightforward solution in open9x is to use 3POS with a 3-point curve.

3POS is now an available mixer input in er9x/ersky9x.
