okay, i started a thread here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1754903
im trying the solder to board method. ive never used TX0 and RX0 to program a board, so i initially soldered to MISO and MOSI, but that did not work.. then i tried soldering to TX and RX, did not work. tried again to go back to TX and RX and cut the traces to the resistors, still did not work. not sure what else to do right now.
the only thing i can think of is to buy i new ATMEGA64A and program it off the board, then solder it on. this really seems like the easyest thing to do, but ive been broke so long the 10 usd seems like a lot of money...
my programmer works, its a usbasp and programs arduino pro mini and avr t25 and t13a just fine.
usbasp flashing problems - need help.

Can you take a photo of where you actually soldered your wires?
Here's where they go: http://openrcforums.com/wiki/index.php/ ... Programmer
You initially soldered to the MISO and MOSI pins of the SPI interface, but that won't work as MOSI and MISO for programming are shared with the TX/RX pins. Removing the resistors is not needed.
