eePe error, can't flash

Post by Elmojo »

Hi all,
I've had my Turnigy 9x radio for a while, running er9x, programmed with s_mack's board.
All was great until today when I decided to update to the latest er9x version, since I'm getting into helis and figured I might as well update.
I launched eePe, and was greeted with messages telling me there were updates to both eePe and er9x.
I downloaded both, and installed the new version of eePe.
My problem is that I can't get eePe, or more accurately AVRDude, to recognize my Tx.
At first, I was getting a USBASP device not found" message, but I installed the new version of libusb and that went away.
I also updated the USBASP driver with the win7 x64-compatible version. not sure if those 2 steps were redundant or not.
Now I get 'avrdude.exe: error: programm enable: target doesn't answer" and some other stuff. I can post the whole error log if that'll help.
I've tried different USB cables and different ports, but the errors persist.
Where should I look now?
I guess I don't *need* to update, but when has that stopped me before?
Thanks in advance,
-Mike

It sounds like the SmartieParts board moved or else doesn't have a good connection with the board.

I suggest removing the SM board, cleaning the pads with Q-tips and alcohol. That should get you back up.

If that doesn't work, try removing 'usb' from the port settingswhere you set the avrdude config, programmer type, then the port. (leave blank)

I know with my setup I had the same issue if I had usb as the port, if you leave it blank, it works. I run 64bit Windows 7.

Popped the case, removed the board, cleaning the contacts, reassembled, all is good! :D
Flashed to r666 and reloaded my models.
Everything seems cool. Thanks so much for getting me back on track Erazz!

Now I gotta figure out how to hook up my heli (Blade CP Pro) to my Flysky 6ch 2.4ghz rx.
Any heli guys on here that could shed some light?
I just need to know which plugs go to which channels.
Someone on the RCG forum gave me a list, but he uses terms like left cyclic and gyro gain.
These don't mean anything to me yet.
I think if I can get simple "rear left servo to channel x" type instructions, I could hook it up, then figure out what it all does.
Anyone know a good place to find that sort of setup info?
Thanks again,
-Mike

have a look at my post here for a standard 450 setup, then REMOVE the blades for safety, if possible disconnect the Motor.
from memory I can not remember the channel order, but I'll check it in eepe shortly and update.

I will post the channels in the linked post above

That's awesome, thanks Groot!
Can I just flash that eepe file over my existing setup or do I need to somehow merge it in with my current model list?
I'm still a little fuzzy on the specifics of flashing with eePe.

I'd suggest opening eePe, downloading your current setup.
After that, open the eePe file form Groot and copy the relevant model to your setup. That way you don't erase anything accidentally.

There are 4 types of files:
FW files (.hex, .bin): There are the actual software for the radio. You flash these to your radio but you can't "open" them in eePe.
EEPROM files (.eepe, .hex, .bin): These hold the setup and model memory for the radio in one batch. Notice that these can have the same extension as the FW files. I suggest saving as .eepe in order to avoid confusion.
Model Files (.eepm): These hold a single model.
Settings file (.eepg): These hold the "general settings" for the radio.

That makes sense, I'll give it a try.
