New gimbals for old 9x

Post by Rad »

Hello friends,

I have seen those Radiomasters are gaining a lot of popularity, but still I don't see a reason for replacing my old but trusty 9x. For example, those 4 push buttons at the back is a function I cannot live without, lol.

But the thing is, I have seen some of those radiomasters come with hall sensor gimballs which you can adjust the tension and self centering of the stick from the outside. Due to I only have only one radio that I use for controlling every single toy, from tanks to planes and boats, I think that could be a great add on.

Does anybody have any idea if any of those new adjustable gimballs are compatible with an easy fit? (that means, if the screw holes are the same and so on)

Just in case, this is my current radio set up.

Thank you!

Mechanically, I don't know if they will fit.
Hall sensor gimbals have usually one of two types of output, analog or PWM.
Electrically, the gimbals connect to analog inputs on the 9Xtreme board. The particular inputs used cannot be set up for PWM signals as they cannot be configured as timer inputs, so you would need to check the type of signal from the gimbals.

On the RMTX16S, different processor inputs are used that may do either analog or timer inputs, and the firmware automatically detects the type of input required.

Thanks for your reply, Mike.
Honestly, no idea of what I should be looking at. Years ago I installed taranis gimbals, and the truth is I don't have the need of a hall sensor gimbal, but being able to adjust the self centering from outside is a great feature I'd like to have.

This is one of the gimbals I saw, but I am pretty sure you are well aware of them:

Nice work with your 9x. Its an absolute beast. For the gimbals, you might have a look at this mod viewtopic.php?p=154744&hilit=9xr+pro+gimbals#p154744 and get some ideas, because i have doubts that the holes will match, because radiomaster tx16s gimbals look smaller.
2x - Turnigy 9X with 9xtreme board;
2x - Turnigy 9XRpro ;
Frsky Taranis & Taranis +;
Horus x10s;
Horus x12s;
Radiomaster TX16S Max mark II.
