My Tx12 didn't come with an SD card, so I buy one and have to go thru hoops to get the right file structure on it? That doesn't make sense to me, tho I'll figure it out. Any camera in the world...put a card in it and in the menu you select format and it puts the correct file structure in the card. I don't know why this hasn't been done in opentx. My version is 2.3.11. There's a lot if great work being done here, why not that? Is it because there's too many different tx manufacturers using different formats?
Thanks

Re: Formatting SD cards
The operating system, not the hardware, determines what format is required.
Any Tx running OpenTx and EdgeTX uses FAT32.
I've never seen a SD card less than 64gb that didn't come formatted with Fat32.
Since that is what OpenTx and EdgeTX (almost sure ersky also) expect, there is no need to format the SD special for use in these systems.
A 2mg byte card is overkill for use in the Tx.
Just go with a name brand good quality SD that is reasonable fast.
If you get a 64gb or higher capacity you will have to format the card FAT32...but why would you?

Re: Formatting SD cards
.
I purchase a 4G SDHC Class 4. I checked and reformatted to fat 32. There is file content that has to be on the card for OpenTX to read it.
I already did it from these kind instructions:
https://www.multirotorguide.com/guide/g ... d-warning/
This is the SD Card down load contents: You can see my version 2.3.11 Some 2080 files in total. Without this content on the SD, it's not readable, and one particular file called "opentx.sdcard.version". It has to be the same version the radio is looking for. My radio version is 2.3V0035 There's lots of different versions for different radios.
https://downloads.open-tx.org/2.3/release/sdcard/
That's hoops, but I got it.

Your complaint seems to be more to do with SD card content, Folders and Files, than Format.
Yes, various versions of operating system requires different folder structures and file contents.
Since the tx does not have internet access, it would be difficult for the tx to take care of that.
The tx seller could...but you didn't buy the tx with an SD card so in your case you made the decision.
Once you get it setup on one Version, no one forces you to upgrade to a new Version making you go through this again.
It is up to you.
But OpenTx is more fiddly and troublesome than it needs to be IMO.
I'm OUT.

The Radio had NO option to buy with a card. It wasn't my choice.....but it's done now. It didn't say anywhere that it did or didn't need one.
