error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
hi
i have a friend with a problem, i told him to check the cable connections, he reinstalled the drivers 10 times and changed to another USB cable but he claim to have the same error always:
avrdude.exe: error: could not find USB device "USBasp" with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc
Any idea about what else could he make ? he is using the sp board, and looks functional as the radio power up at 4,7v when connected, but Eepe return always " Not found USBasp"
thnks

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
why the pads?
the error is related to the programing card, even if its not connected to the radio should be recognized, right?
he say the Card is recognized as USBasp in the device manager of windows, so no sense that eepe says "coudl not find USB device", not¿?

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
That.... it a very good point!
Try a different usb port? Maybe try on a pc that you know works on a different radio?

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
ok to fix this is easy .... please tell us the settings he has in eepe under configuration.
Make sure he has
AVRDUDE = eepe/avrdude.exe
Programer = usbasp
mcu = M64
Port = Nothing
The problem as described above is most probably because he has Port = USB or something, however it could be avrdude.
I'm not on windows, but think I have the correct location for avrdude. if it is different you may link to another version of avrdude that does not suport usbasp.

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
yes, as you see in this "screenshoot" he use USB as port... is that incorrect? i user USB as port always and works well...
i will tell him to select "nothing" in port and see the result..

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
yes I have seen before somewhere a post about someone having problems, and removing usb as port fixed it .....should be nothing I think. also depends on the driver/usbsetup of the pc I think, but not sure. I use only mac but have seen this. I am guessing the ID from the usb port is the problem ...can be drivers, depending what drivers he used to install, there are a few places to get the drivers, but removing the port should work

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
he told me to get the same error even selecting "blank" instead USB in the configuration.
Thats so strange as windows recognize the board as USBasp and the radio just turn on at ~4,7v so there is USB supply power and everything seems correct
i can't figure out why Eepe return the error "could not find USBasp device" in his pc. He even claim to test it in multiple pc's with different USB cables.
Any one think it could be a hardware issue even if windows recognize it as USBasp¿? looks pretty senseless
any one got any idea about where could be the problem?
thnks

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
Sounds to me like a bad driver install.
it would be interesting to get the radio plugged in to a PC that you already 'know' works on another radio.

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
Ok the best thing I can suggest, He should remove the drivers, remove eepe, and start from scratch. Use the driver from here and take eepe from here

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
that error means the drivers were not installed properly.
It would be helpful if you mentioned your OS.
you can find driver information, including partially signed windows drivers, information for win8, here.

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
That looks like an UsbAsp driver problem..
João
EDIT: I have just read on another thread where you posted the same as here that you are using ersky9x and not er9x. You don't use UsBasp with ersky9x radios.
This thread is about er9x radios that DO USE UsbAsp as programmer. So, this is the wrong thread for your problem.
Ahh!! And please don't double post as you will make it more confusing for the people trying to help you..

Re: error: could not find USB device "USBasp"
avrdude: error: could not find USB device with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc vendor='www.fischl.de' product='USBasp' ... Making the long story short you just download Zadiq (a well known, reliable and open source software) and install the libusbK driver for your USBasp device: that’s it!
