Taranis 9xd Plus Firmware

Quick question I have a 9xd plus running 2.2.2 firmware, I have also just bought a 9XD Plus 2019 which has 2.3.12 firmware. can i upgrade the 2.2.2 to 2.3.12 before i transfer the models across?

It is as always advisable to have a look into the release notes

PLEASE NOTE the following important information before hastily jumping on it: Please back up your models and settings before upgrading so that you can go back to your previous version should you not like 2.3 or find issues that make it unsuitable for you. Use the “backup radio to file” companion feature for this to have an exact copy of what was on your radio.

As a new major release a new data format has been put in place, existing models and settings will be upgraded keeping things compatible as much as possible, but not everything can be converted.....

But you will not get 2.3.12, but 2.3.14, as that is the actual version and I would flash your 9xd plus to 2.2.4 (that is the version under 2.2.x)

Not totally sure I understood that, the 2019 already has 2.3.12 installed...are you saying its not possible to flash the old 9XD plus any higher than 2.2.4?

No you can upgrade it to 2.3.x He is saying you will not be able to upgrade the X9D plus to 2.3.12 (unless you already have it) because Companion will only download the latest version of a release which for 2.3 is 2.3.14.

If it were me I would update both of them to 2.3.14 before moving anything across. Back up the X9D plus first using Companion 2.2 so you can go back if anything goes wrong. You can have both Companion 2.2 and 2.3 installed at the same time.

Thanks, I did download 2.3.12 companion from open tx website all the versions are available, but I will take your advice and upgrage the older one first.
