I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
My 9x was working great, then after flashing it, it is now completely useless.
What it can do is power on with the 9Xtreme logo in the middle of the screen and windows does recognize it when the usb is plugged in and it is listed in the device manager. I can flash firmware to the radio but this doesn’t seem to help. When trying to get any info from the radio using eepskye I get an error TX not mounted.
What it can’t do is go in to the Bootloader or maintenance mode or see the sd card on the desk top.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
This may just be a communication problem between the 9Xtreme and the original board.
1. When you say it won't go into bootloader mode, is this because you don't see anything on the display (other than the 9Xtreme message, which is put there by the original main board)? If so, have you tried starting in bootloader mode, then connecting the USB?
2. Have you tried flashing the firmware that was working?

But Mike, if it is only communication between 9XT and the mainboard, wouldn't the radio control servos?
Question, would the radio accept a wrong firmware to be flashed?

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
First off I can not express to you both how appreciative I am for you both helping me and everyone else in the forum community who has beckoned the call for help. You both are underpaid and over worked.
The answer to the first question is Yes & Yes after connecting to the PC I tried flashing the firmware and I get a prompt stating that Avrdude was unable to find the path of and it shows what the name of the firmware I was using.
I’ve connected to the pc with the battery pulled and the switch off, windows sees the connection and I can see the bootloader32 in the devices make the connection, & after trying to flash I get a prompt that the TX drive is not there.
Aaaand I don’t know what version of firmware I started with, I know I know back up your files. I have definitely learned a lesson.
Years ago when I upgraded to the 9XTREME board I didn’t mess with the firmware or the software. I used the radio about a half a dozen times and then put away. Recently I pulled it out of storage to get back into flying.

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
AvrDude is only for the original board, not the 9Xtreme.
Please try powering on with the two horizontal trims held inwards (bootloader mode), then connect the USB. Do you get two hard drives appearing?
If you just plug the USB in with power off, then you need the zadig driver and DFU_UTIL to flash the board.

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
When I power on in the bootloader mode the display shows the same 9Xtreme logo and when connecting to the pc ( still in bootloader) there are no drives that show up & Windows doesn’t see the radio.
“ If you just plug the USB in with power off, then you need the zadig driver and DFU_UTIL to flash the board.”
I’ll try the above & keep you posted.
Thank you again for your time and help.

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
Mike,
I started in bootloader mode and 2 things happen, the radio screen stays the same with the 9Xtreme logo and when flashing I get a window saying no device at USB port.
I tried flashing ( switch off & battery pulled) using companion 2.0 & a window opens say TX not mounted.
I’ve done so much downloading of this Firmware and that program. I want to try to simplify things & start off from a new beginning.
The radio is a FS TH9X PCM1024 with the 9Xtreme board and color lcd screen upgrade.
I’m using windows 10
When I connect the usb To the radio from the PC the display shows 9Xtreme and windows sees the device and confirmed in device manager.
When I try to place the Radio into the bootloader mode the display shows the 9Xtreme logo the same as when I plug in the usb. does this mean I’m in bootloader mode regardless of what the display shows.
No matter what I do I am unable to see the sd card that’s.
Please advise.

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
Is the device you see in device manager a "STM32 Bootloader"?
Do you have "dfu_util" installed?

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
OK, to use the STM32 Bootloader you need either DFUse from STM or dfu_util. The latter is here: http://dfu-util.sourceforge.net/releases/.
You will also probably need Zadig installed in order to set the driver for the STM32 Bootloader.

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
What PC operating system are you using? I'm using windows and I get a different set of files.
I think you may only need dfu_static as I only use dfu_util_static.

Re: I need some help bringing my 9Xtreme back from the dead.
You should only need dfu-util-static.exe.
Look here: http://open-txu.org/home/undergraduate- ... ing-zadig/ for information on using Zadig to get the correct driver for the STM32 bootloader (use step #2).
Then, with the Tx powered OFF, connect the USB, start a command prompt and enter the command:
dfu-util-static -a 0 --dfuse-address 0x08000000 -D ersky9x9XT_rom.bin
This should flash the firmware to the 9Xtreme.
