Trim are reversed

Post by Raythegreat »

Hi,

I have the Taranis X7 and OpenTX 2.2.0 RC18.
For some reason my trims are all reversed (Ele, Rud, Ail) . In the model setup, I did not check the T-reverse box. I tried it and it did not do anything.
Everything else works well including the direction of joysticks.

Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

Thanks
RTG

Hi,

OK I figured it out.
I had mistakenly inverted the joysticks direction in the input menu instead of mixer menu, this inverting the trims.
Moving the inverting in mixer menu solves the trim inversion.

I don't really understand why putting negative values are allowed in the input menu if that reverses the trims of their respective joysticks and we cannot do anything after that.
What is the utility of putting negative values in the input menu if it can be done in the mixer menu?

Thanks,
RTG

Hi,

The trims polarity are effected by the input setting of the weight contradicting the drawing in the file attached, Am I right? Did I miss something?
For example, if a negative weight value is set in the inputs, all joystick trims will be inverted which is not desirable.

thanks,

No, the diagram is correct, as you can see the trim is added at the end of the whole chain, so is not affected by the weight.

Hi Kilrah,

Well, I believe the trims are indeed affected by the weight.
If I put a negative value to the weight the trims are reversed which is something not desirable.
The value of the trims themselves are unchanged but the polarity is.
This drawing does not work on the X7 with RC18.

No they are not and the diagram is correct - IF they were they would not be reversed.

The weight affects only the stick signal, when you set a negative weight the stick gets reversed but since the trims precisely do NOT it's normal for both to now work in the opposite way.

Conclusion - do not use negative input weights unless you want to invert the trim on purpose. That is a useful feature when trims are used for trimming inputs with sources other than sticks. Been that way since inputs were introduced 3 years ago.

OK thanks Kilrah,

I will recheck this again on my side once more. I won't argue with the expert :-)

My point was we cannot use negative values on weight in input menu because it will affect the polarity of trims vs sticks and we can't correct it in mixer menu.

Thank you.

Thanks for this thread Ray. I found it in Google search.
And thanks to Kilrah (again) for the solution to reversed trims!
And, it sorted my same problem.

Hi gyus,

I see the same problem with reverse trims as the OP. Same Tx and same FW 2.2.0.

I hope this helps someone. It sure helped me. Took out my Aileron inverse in the inputs, and placed them in the mixer. All good now!
