Turnigy 9X THROTTLE WARNING

Post by TheCirodi »

Hello,
I have my Turnigy 9x with the original ATmega64 chip flashed with Er9x-pxr822 FW.
Recently I started experiencing an issue when I switch on the radio: I'm getting always the throttle warning message even if the throttle is in the proper zero/idle position.
To override I simply press a key as instructed.
Trying to figure out if it could be an hardware problem, I setup a model with a countdown timer linked to THs in such a way to detect if the throttle stick is not at zero/idle.
When the throttle is at zero/idle the counter is stopped.
Then I switched on the radio again without moving the throttle stick and I got the same warning error.
After pressed any key to skip the warning I retrieved my model with the timer stopped since the throttle is at zero/idle.
So the potentiometer shouldn't be the cause of the issue.

I also re-calibrated the radio, however the same trouble.

I have no more idea to fix.

Please help.

Thanks!

Sergio

1. Check if the throttle warning goes away if you pull the ELE stick down!
2. Go to the "DiagANA" display and report what the values are when you move the throttle stick.

1) Pulling down ELE stick the warning doesn't go away
2) throttle idle A2 00A6 -98
throttle max A2 07D3 100
Thank you for taking care.

Please try re-calibrating the sticks. When moving the sticks, only move them up/down, then left/right (not to the corners). Also when moving the throttle stick down don't force it to the low position, just move it gently until it stops. After calibration, check in the DiagANA screen that the throttle stick goes to -100, not -98.

Then see if the throttle warning is OK.

Hi Mike, I did it and now it goes from -100 upto 100, however the error message is still active at start and, still, the counter on THs is stopped when I bypass the error message without touching the stick.
Strange indeed...
Thanks!

Is it possible, that you have incorrect sound files? That it, may be, should be the Welcome message instead of the throttle warning?

I don't know if I understood you, but I have not sounds installed and the welcome screen appears correctly just before the warning.
Is there a way to download the radio setup with eepe to analyze it?
Thanks!

Sorry, my fault. I thought you got the warning as a voice message

@ Mike

Mike,
to exclude hw caused issues, could you share with me a clean working er9x configuration (without any model)?
I could upload it on my Turnigy 9x and check if the warning is still active.

Please let me know.
Thanks lot!

When on the throttle warning screen, try moving the throttle (and ele) sticks fully both ways.
If you have eepe on your computer, you can read the radio EEPROM to a file, zip it up and post it here. Having saved the existing EEPROM, just create a new EEPROM in eepe (File menu, new) and write that to the radio. You will need to then do the calibration on the radio and then check if the throttle warning is fixed.

Mike,
1) When on the throttle warning screen, moving the ele stick fully both ways doesn't remove the warning.
2) When on the throttle warning screen, just moving the throttle stick removes the warning.
3) I here attach the downloads.
4) loading new EEPROM, after stick calibration, warning is OFF when turn on the radio and throttle stick is at idle; so hw is confirmed that is not causing the issue.

To practically solve my issue, I could simple load a new eeprom, calibrate the radio and reload my models, but I'm now curious to understand what I did wrong not intentionally to cause it.

Please let me know.
Thanks!

Looking at your EEPROM, the model "MULIPRO" has the "Throttle Default" position set to "Centre", not "End". This therefore warns about the throttle at startup if the stick is not in the centre. This setting is usually used for ground models where the throttle works both forwards and backwards.

So Mike,
now it's clear.
There was an overlapping of my errors.
1) bad calibration that impacted all the models
2) error (I don't know how I did it) when i setup a dummy model to test the multiproticol module.
I'll check where is the "Throttle Default" position setting to learn and avoid.
I guess that you didn't find anything else wrong.

A big thank for sharing your talent and time!
Regards,

Sergio
