FrSky GPS module

Post by TGreyFleet »

Does anyone have experience with this module?

I have set it up, I get connection but it doesn't update it's position.
At te moment I have only been able to power it up indoors as the model isn't ready yet to go sailing.

Can it be it is too weak of a sensor to detect the GPS satelites indoors, or do I have to look at another problem?

Two thoughts.
1. When a GPS is used the first time, it has no idea where in the world it is. It can take several minutes to establish where it is and start updating. (My Garmin inReach took about 20 minutes when I powered it on the first time. I was inside a wood building.) The longer it has been since I used my FrSky GPSs, the longer it takes to see enough satellites to start updating.
2. The building can block part or all of the satellites GPS signals. It is general recommended in instructions to take the GPS outdoors to establish a good 'view' of the satellites. Any metal construction in the building makes the matter worse.
