Voltage Sensor no longer reading

Post by rgaynor »

Hey all - I have a Horus X10S running OpenTX 2.3.14. After updating to this version, my voltage sensors and ALT sensors are no longer giving me a readout from the radio. Your help is MUCH appreciated. Ron

Hi Ron

I have experienced a similar problem with a Turnigy 9x Extreme.
Using an XJT module and an X6R the telemetry sensors were operating well then after some weeks they no longer appear ( RSSI and RxBat)

I have tried reflashing the module and the X6R - the receiver binds ok and seems to register the telemetry but nothing shows on the screen

Any ideas?

In the telemetry menu, what is the setting of "Telem Com Port"?
(Should be COM1 for a XJT)

Hi Mike

Thanks for the rapid reply - I was not expecting that

It is a very strange problem I am having with telemetry

It seems to have started with the TX16 and could have been related to the LUA script for INAV I was using on an ARPRO with a flight controller.

I then used the TX16 with a XJT module on a different plane.

I then transferred the XJT module to the Extreme and found that the telemetry had disappeared from the X6R (RSSI and Rxbat).

It also disappeared on the TX16 with the XJT, but was ok using the internal CC2500 so I have a working solution on the TX16.

Anyway I am trying to fix the Extreme first ,

Opening Telemetry on the Extreme I have:

BT Telemetry
Telem Com Port 1
Com Port Invert None
FAS Offset 0
COM2 Func Telemetry
COM2 Baudrate Auto

Does that suggest anything wrong?

Check also in the Telemetry menu that the "UsrProto" is set to "FrSky".

There is a DEBUG menu under "Statistics". On the bottom line is "TelRxCount". Check the first number is changing quickly (the number of telemetry bytes received) and the second number is 0101.

Hi Mike
In the DEBUG menu under TelRxCount the first number remains constant at 0000
The second number is 0101

Does this mean there is no telemetry signal from the RX ?

Correct. There should be a connection on the 9X from the back board to the 9Xtreme. My guess is this has become disconnected.

Thanks Mike
I will have a look inside the TX

Hi Mike

I cant see any connections that have come loose.

No matter what firmware I use, the XJT will not allow the X6R to give telemetry.

Although I have supposedly flashed the XJT with both EU LBT and Non EU firmware, I suspect it is blocking telemetry. (perhaps reverting to D8 mode)

Could this have been put in place by Frsky so that their D16 protocol (XJT and X6R) cannot be used with the TX16 unless you use the multiprotocol module.

Using the multiprotocol module the TX16 provides telemetry and discovers the sensors,

It does sound like there is something now wrong with the XJT. Maybe worth checking the 5-way connector in the XJT.
The SPort signal is also available as a 3-pin connector on the exposed face of the XJT.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the reply.

I purchased a new XJT module recently to eliminate this possibility but the problem still occurs.

Furthermore the telemetry issue occurs with the TX16S using the XJT module as well as with the Turnigy 9X(Smartie parts converted)

To summarise the XJT module gave telemetry with both transmitters and various X6Rs up to a point in time, and since that date they no longer supply telemetry.

Incidently the TX16S using the internal chip set to Frsky D16 LBT EU delivers telemetry using the same X6Rs.

I am totally baffled !

Hans
