Radiomaster TX16S USB access issue

Post by MartyS »

I can not access radio SD (E:) or (F:) drives via the USB cable.
I am looking for troubleshooting tips to resolve no being able to access my new TX16S radio via my Dell Latitude E6440 laptop. I have confirmed that when connected I do see the USB RadioMaster TX16S Bootloader in the driver list. The transmitter does say that the USB is connected, but I do not see the drives in the file manager or the "My PC" window, so I also cannot access the files from OpenTx's Companion software. It must be some setting issue I have missed.
Radio version 2,3,9 6/14/2020
Open TX version 2.3.9 6/14/2020
Windows Pro10, version 1909
No errors appear in the device manager list.
Any help would be welcome

I received a speedy reply from Troy of Radiomaster and worked out a solution.
I hope this helps others connect OpenTX Companion with a Windows 10 PC.

Troy,
In a round about way this video did help.
I was not trying to install the radio as a game controller but the tip of installing a libusb-win32 driver did lead to a USB icon with RadioMas TX16S Bootloader title.
That didn't work, so I used your video tip shown on,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_ea9Ct ... nT&index=9
and updated the RadioMas TX16S driver to a generic USB Mas Storage device, one of three on the pop down list.

After that the PC self opened the SD card and firmware drives.
You might want to add this process to your solution list.
1.Load Zadig_2.5.exe to create a RadioMas TX16S USB driver.
2.Load a libusb-win32 USB driver. (It looks to me that it converts the RadioMas TX16S driver to a Libusb driver.)
3.Update this driver to a generic USB Mass Storage driver.
I do not know the technical reason why this process worked, but I got there anyway. That's three easy steps that took me about 40 hours of time to solve. I also have a spare USB C cable as I tried that too. I hope this helps others get connected and on to programming the radio.
