Voice possible?

I've had a PM asking about fitting a MegaSound board to the Gruvin upgrade board.
What are the possibilities regarding voice on the Gruvin board?

Mike.

"Standard" voice on gruvin uses the SOMO-14D module.
AFAIK it's nearly (or completely) the same as the emartee module, but it was directly connected to the many spare ports the bigger CPU has. So no latch and backlight trick, thus the Megasound board probably won't be directly compatible.

He probably should rather be looking at the SOMO-14D and "standard" installation. Haven't found the doc again yet though.

Hi Kilrah,
Seeing the voice generator has been written to run on a atmega chip.
The Gruvin 9X board can reed and write to the SD card It currently logs telemetry to the SD and comes standard with a speaker interface (Witch generates different sounds and tones) Could the Voice section of the current megasound code be added to the G9X in OpenTX to reed voice data from SD card and send to the speaker.
It will need optimisation to reduce the overhead on the radio?
Maybe a question for the developers or bertrand35 could shed some light on this issue.

Voice on the gruvin9x board currently uses the SOMO-14D module. I don't think that the poor 2560 is able to read PCM from the SD and send it to the speaker. About a MegaBoard module, I have had no time to see what it does. If it is a board which handles both SD read and Audio play, I see no technical problem for gruvin9x adaptation.

It is directly compatible with the Emartee mod that uses the '574 latch and pin 17 of the M64. I thought openTx supports this on the stock board.

Agreed. There simply won't be enough CPU horsepower to do this without compromising RC control (mostly because there's no DMA controller available, like there is on the 32-bit ARM chips, for example.)

dose anybody have any information on how the SOMO-14D connects to the G9X board?

I wonder if the standard Emartee board could be used to reed and write to SD card and act as a gate way for traffic coming from G9X to SD card, this would allow the same SD card to be used for model memory, Telemetry log data and Voice sound files.
I believe people are working on this project.
Attached is schematic for G9X:

the emartee won't do it.. but the Megasound probably could.. at the moment we are able to load files to the SD card through a serial connection. Still a bit basic but it works..

I currently have a megasound board from Hungary.
Is it possible to get this board to work with a G9X?
Do you have any detail on how to connect this board to the G9X?
The standard connection to a standard 9X are well described on the web site.

I do apologise for my ignorance, but what is a G9X?
