Rotary Encoders not working

I'm a little stumpted, maybe someone can help. I have a Gruvin9x v4.2 board with the speaker, SD & usb mods. It seems to be working OK except the rotary encoders. I'm running open9x. Did I miss something during the software setup. It is my understanding the rotary encoders should allow quicker selections of the setup menus.
