Hi

Thank you all for your great work.

Do you think there is a chance to get a spare DSM2/X Modul from a DX10t to work with 12 Channels??

Thanks Werner

Ok a few question I don't understand about the High Power DS4e mod.
1>It is ok to cut the other pin's off?
2>I understand about the ring on the diode, what about the resistor ring.Does it matter what way the resistor go's?
3>About the antenna.Do I use both antenna's?If not how do I fix and install a switch like the mod page say's?Would kinda look funny with 2 antenna's on there. :o
4>Should I download my file from the tx and then update my FW in the tx BEFORE are AFTER the mod?
I am using a FlySky TH9X.
I just want to make sure about everything BEFORE I screw something up.
Thanks
Tom

1> Just don't cut the pins you need. Unless you want to remove the connector and solder the wire right to the pcb board.

2>Resistors can go any direction. Diodes (leds too) only work one way. The ring represents the cathode, on an led the cathode is the longest leg.

3> You use two antenna, you cannot just use one.

4> Your file , if from the vanilla untouched original firmware, will not be compatible. If you already run er9x, then it should be compatible.

Thanks for the help. Here is my FW that is installed now.
trunk>r646
version>V1.5189

Why does the instruction say that you can install a switch and use one antenna?Unless I misunderstood that part.

The wiki that I wrote has this...

'... Some opted to use a switch and connect the ppm and power to it, so one module works at a time...'

You can have both running at the same time. Since you choose a protocol to use with the model, only one tx will be doing anything, the other will be ignoring the data.
The switch that some install switches the ppm and power to on module or the other, so only one is on a time.

You may have miss understood that.

r646... hmm, should be okay, Erazz would be best to confirm that though.

worst case, you save your files first, backup your firmware too, save it . You load the new firmware into your radio, and the old eeprom file doesn't work. Just open the old eprom file so you can see all your models in one pane on the screen, create a new blank eprom file, and copy and paste, from the old pane, into the new pane, and save the new pane into your radio, that should fix any old incompatibilities.

phew...

Maybe this is what is confusing me.
I have removed the old module and placed the DSM antenna in place of the stock radio antenna.

So I was thinking I could use 1 antenna.

Thanks

That's what did. I removed the stock module all together in the radio. Put the dsm module and the antenna in the radio. My module is empty on the dsm9x.

But I have to have the module and the dxm to fly airplanes and heli's right?
Can the antenna wire from the dsm be solder into the tx antenna wire to make only one antenna? Sorry I am lost here. ;)
Just wondering.

If you can then update to r708.
Though the DSM2 is much the same we did have a change in the eeprom structure.

3.3v out. 5v may do some damage. Check the out voltage on the doner transmitter. (i would but dont have anything here at work)

3.3v , hobbyking usa is where i got mine. Or just use a voltage regulator, the doner tx would have one you can grab.

I wish it were that easy. Unfortuneatly you can't. You can always mount the stock antenna on the module. There is a diy somewhere on how to do that. so you have two antenna. it's not weird, just looks a little different. :)

Regulator looks like a big flat block with three legs, sometimes a piece of metal on the opposite side of the pins with a hole (heat sink) if you look at the picture in the wiki where the 3.3v line is on the board, the black thing below it is a voltage regulator.

fourth picture down from the heading...

http://openrcforums.com/wiki/index.php/ ... on_process

it should say something about lp4dsm module... that three legged thingy. (like the descriptions?)

That's the third picture.

The one below that one... there is a gray wire above it (also a white connector)... (I can't do much in the way of images at work, limited to what we can do on the net)

see if this works...

like the ones Uphiearl posted. You should have soemthig like that on the dx4e board somewhere.

That's what we're all here for, to learn.

Hey, can you take a ic of it and post it on the dx4e board, I can add it to the wiki as an fyi, so if someone else needs it, that will point them in the same direction.

cheers.

Is there a pic somewhere on how to install the regulator?
Or is this it? And just use the regulator instead of the UBEC.

I am currently opening a Dx4e and using it's module to modify a friend's Turnigy 9x. Taking photos along the way so I can properly do a write up.

Here's the link to my page that will hold the photos and how-to.

 Ok what about this on the antenna. My FlySky has the antenna mounted on the top of the tx,not on the module.Don't see anyway to mount another antenna.
Can both antenna wire's be pushed up into the same antenna on top of the tx?Or would they interfear with each other because they are touching and close?

C12 and C14 are the input and output caps. Can also be reused. + is 5vdc or so input and 3,3 is the regulated 3.3 vdc output. the - is the ground side of the regulator. The diagram is good.

Is the DX4e a high power module? I thought these required a better power source than a 5v -> 3.3v regulator?
