Not able to place orders? strange, I've had no problems here. The server has been down for a couple of hours tonight yep, but apart from that it worked in the past few days... just slow as usual lol

They posted on their facebook page that their web hosting provider had server problems and was trying to solve the issue.

I thought we broke it with our posts or we bankrupted them asking for a refund or replacement.
Whew, I'm glad their back because I was starting to have withdrawal symptoms from not buying anything today.

weird. I have been trying to place an order for items on BK over a month in the past 3 days with no luck. :?
May be it is the asia net work. I am in asia now. ;)

think about it, this never happen before. only after the module test result revealed. I wonder if some one got a bad response from HK and really p**sed and did some thing in HK servo. ;)
After all, the servo crashed after the revealing of the module test result. May be that is why HK changed their mind to send everyone a new one. They learned they need to treat 'certain' people nicely.

I do see PINK SLIPS flying though. ;)

edit: this is really weird. Just place the order after switching 4 different network. network in hotel won't work, network in coffee shop won't work, using the public network here in asia and it worked. :? but one of the items I was waiting for is BK again. :( 1 month more wait. :( :(

I got it well before Christmas and was surprised to find that they had made quite a bit of change to the circuit board. I was hoping that the change would be done in firmware, which would have made it possible to reflash the CPU. No such luck.

From what I've seen the changes only affect the power circuit (they replaced the linear 5V regulator with a switching one). No changes in the "functionality" part, so reflashing should still be possible.
I don't have a PDI programmer to try and read the new chip unfortunately.

I'm glad that you got it before Christmas! It would be hard to travel by land during holiday season. :ugeek: According to the American Automobile Association, there will be more automobiles on the road this holiday season than at any time after pre-recession 2006. Motorists are encouraged to be calm and take it slow. :geek:

The above post is spam - but I just found it too funny to delete it (user banned though)

The italic text pointed to some obscure "car deal" site...

EDIT: interestingly he had already made a post that went unnoticed some time ago:
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=212&p=25354#p25354

Love the electric car battery post in the middle of a 9x LiFe battery discussion

hehe heh. why am I reading this thread, what room am I in? lol... I could be in the category that it helps, and I'm only halfway between 23 and an old git.

On my just set up HP6DSM internal to 9x, I think model match is what made me lose bind when I had the trainer switch pulled accidentally on start up. (ie: my questions about swapping TRN and THR switches from left to right) It had been linked and working before, then would not, and needed to re-bind.

Nope for me also. It just showed up. I still have a second one coming this way.
It took some time to show up on USPS when it did get delivered.

Thanks. That's what I figured. Just wanted to verify my suspicions. I believe it was the same when the first one came.

What is the latest word? Is this updated module good or not? I just bought a DX4e today to make the mod and after I paid I saw this thread. Should I keep the DX4e or should I sell it when it arrives? :)

The fixed module seems to be working fine.
So it all depends what you want. The Orange module is plug and play and allows for 8 channels, but no model match and no reduced latency as it's PPM-based. The DX4e module solution is fast (digital, no PPM) and has model match, but needs hacking and is limited to 6 channels.

IIRC, I read somewhere the module that is in the dx5e is the same as the one in the DX8. I don't have any Rx with more than 6 ch but I wonder if anyone has tried to get more than 6 channels from the Spektrum mod.

I too have only 6ch rx's. Plenty of them. I'll keep the DX4e. :D

I believe dx4e, dx5e and dx6i all use the same modul - 6ch.

March 2013, german revue "Modell", article "Chinese Roulette".

Did someone read it ?
It suggests that the Orange DSM2/X compatible module could control receivers which hasn't been binded with it, thus resulting in crahes if there is no transmitter check before going on air.
With 2.4GHz technology we aren't supposed to check anymore frequencies, quartz, channels, GUID, whatever !

Actually, the own manual of the module suggests this potential conflict:
If there is another transmitter on site, it can take control of your model without binding.
But it doesn't say what may happend if this is seen after take off, while flying...

I guess that each Spektrum transmitter uses a unique identifier of its own (like a network MAC address).
So no possible conflicts between Spektrum transmitters.
But Orange hasn't been attributed a safe and dedicated range of unique IDs provided by Spektrum (obviously...)
Hence conflicts between legit Spektrum owners and compatible Orange DSM "pirats".
