New 10 pin to 6 pin adapter coming soon. So far I've been slightly filing the existing version to get it to fit in a shrouded header. More details to follow as they become available. I'm not familiar with the url in the pictures, it resolves to a different aliexpress store. Many thanks to Tom Shao @ http://www.betemcu.cn for his responsiveness to our issues.

Have you ever considered developing a solderless -> header board? Something like smartiepart's solution but instead of having the programmer on board (and backlight support, and...) you just put the pins to the necessary header for a USBavr? I'm all about NOT making irreversible changes to things. The smartieparts sounds great but I just don't think I need everything they're offering and definitely not at that price (got my 9x for $60 shipped...don't really wanna pay > $45 for an add-on).

Hi
Did you look at the 9Xr ? It sounds sorta like what you are talking about. It's not solderless but it comes to you already soldered :)

I'm not the guy who offers the Smartieparts solution. You'll have to ask him about that. I can say that his products and customer service are well received and supported. http://www.smartieparts.com/shop/index. ... 0aaa16b476

If I was to guess I would imagine.
1. The components added to the board are only a small part of the price.
2. The 9x/9xr line is fading out and most people who arent wanting to solder in their own programmer are opting for the 9xr.
But this is just an uninformed guess.

I offer usbasp with real open source software with shipping from USA for a competitive price. My goals are fast shipping and great customer support. Most of the interest with usbasp now centers around programming quad control boards and esc's. The newest, latest , greatest radio, the Taranis, doesnt even need a programmer. It has usb support built right in.

Maybe there is someone close to you that could solder one in for you ? The guys around here are very helpful. There is even a thread concerning helping people out.

good luck and welcome to the forum

New version of Usbasp for 2014.

Well it is a new year and out comes a new Usbasp

Changes
  1. Uses a 6 pin interface. No adapter needed
  2. Troublesome series limiting resistors have been removed
  3. Includes 12" (30 cm) cable.
  4. Does not support 3.3 volt targets ( the 9x,9xr,kkboard are not 3.3 volt targets)
  5. Lower price of $7.50
  6. Free shipping for USA orders ( $5 shipping for INT orders )
I will try to keep the older version available for people with 10 pin or 3.3 volt requirements . Does anyone know of any RC gear that needs either one of these features ?

This new model should meet our needs at a better price point. What do you think ?

Available now at http://9xrprogrammer.com

Thanks for your support

When I get an updated schematic I will post it with the rest of them here.

I just came across an RC device that needs a 3.3 supply for the target.
The HK rX3S flight stabilizer includes a component that is not 5V tolerant (itg3205 gyro)

In this case you should get a usbasp that supports 3.3 volt operation ( the usbasp deluxe on the website) or you can workaround by not having the usbasp provide power to the target and powering the target through its normal means ( BEC or receiver ).

I have about 200 6-pin USBASP programmers left to sell . When they are sold I am closing up the shop. Price reduced for USA buyers to $5 including shipping. I expect it to take the rest of this year to sell these out unless the price reduction causes a significant increase in sales.

There wont be any problems supporting these final units. I am not going anywhere. Sales have been declining as the new radios do not use usbasp for programming. The support section of the website will stay live until the domain expires. If you are interested in the domain, PM me. It would be a good add on for someone who is already selling RC products, but usbsap has ran its course as a standalone website. It is still used in the kkboards and for ESC programming.

I want to thank everyone for their support and friendship. I've had a lot of fun, learned a lot, and consider this venture a success. I couldnt have done it without you.

Hello.
The 9xrprogrammer.com website has been retired.

You can still retrieve driver and other information from the sister site http://usbasp.us . I think that will be up for another month or so. If anyone has any issues I can be reached here or at [email protected] . I have a few spare units saved in case the unfortunate happens. They may take a bit to dig up as I am packing up for a move. Thanks for the support and memories. I learned a lot but would like to say the the people in the RC world are top notch and a pleasure to deal with.

Suggestions for purchase of usbasp.
Germany http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ - Buy from the guy who invented Usbasp.
Sweden http://www.hobbyflyg.com/elektronik/9xr ... eluxe.html - These are my units that he purchased in Bulk
USA https://www.hallamtudor.com/en/usbasp/2 ... sbasp.html - Made in USA , by hand I think.
USA http://www.protostack.com/accessories/u ... programmer - Protostack has provided (semi)signed drivers for some time
China/ Worldwide http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product ... 88570.html - This was the source of my usbasp. Tom Shao is trustworthy and always treated me fair. The alternate website is http://betemcu.cn/ , but the iframe doesnt work well with aliexpress when you go to place your order ( open the page in another frame so that the aliexpress.com domain is shown)

The main thing is no matter where you buy your usbasp, get 2 of them so you can reflash one with the other if you need to update/change the firmware
