Trouble connecting to controller

Post by justpleb »

I can't get eepe to read or write to the EEPROM on my turnigy 9x transmitter. I'm running eepe on linux (originally tried it on win7) and when I try to read or write I get the following error message:

=================================================================================
Started AVRDUDE
avrdude -c usbasp -p m64 -U eeprom:r:/asdf:a
=================================================================================
avrdude: Warning: cannot query manufacturer for device: error sending control message: Operation not permitted
avrdude: Warning: cannot query product for device: error sending control message: Operation not permitted
avrdude: error: could not find USB device with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc vendor='www.fischl.de' product='USBasp'

avrdude done. Thank you.

=================================================================================
AVRDUDE done - exit code 1
=================================================================================

How do I get the AVR to communicate with the ATmega64 on my controller? Is it likely that a soldered connection is not working?

I think the problem is that your computer can't find the UsbAsp programmer..

Well at first I was using windows 7 and jumped through a lot of hoops to get my usbasp to show up normally under the device manager, which I assume meant that the drivers were installed correctly. Yet I eventually moved over to my linux os because all the troubleshooting suggestions on this problem say that its a driver problem, and to my knowledge linux does not require drivers for usbasp. Although it still isn't working on linux so I turned here. I am not too familiar with all this so I was partially hoping there might be an obvious problem with what Im trying to do that someone could spot.

If using Er9x, use Eepe.
EepSkye is for ErSky9x

You need to describe everything you have, how you've connected what you have, what you've done until now very clearly and all in the same place. Only then can we, and thus you move forward.

It's impossible to understand where you stand with the way you talk. The only thing we can say is that your programmer is not recognised by your PC, i.e. either not connected or with no proper driver installed.

Trouble connecting to controller

Post by Daedalus66 »

If you have installed a 9Xtreme board, then you are already using ErSky9x. The board has it already installed and communicates automatically with the existing 9x main board.

Please go to the instructions and read carefully to make sure you installed correctly:

http://smartieparts.com/shop/index.php? ... cts_id=378

All you do is install the board and turn on the transmitter. No separate programmer is used. The radio can be connected to EepSkye on a computer with a MiniUSB cable.

If you need help, you MUST tell us clearly what you have done step by step in logical order.

You're again mixing everything. OpenTX and ersky9x are completely different things, and OpenTX doesn't even support the 9Xtreme at this point so just forget about it.

You cannot use any version of companion9x or OpenTX with your 9xtreme, period.

And eepskye totally lets you change your splash screen.

The 9XR Pro manual "Using EepSkye Program" explains it. It's near the end.

You can find the manual at

Also see here for more 9Xtreme info: (viewtopic.php?f=95&t=7182). :)
You need eepSkye on your PC which works with erSky9x which is the firmware on your 9Xtreme radio. :)
Are you able to find eepSkye on you PC ? :?:
Not eepe or skyeepe !

Did you read the relevant section of the EePSkye manual I linked to above? See pages 15 and 16. It explains how to edit or replace the image embedded in the ErSky9x file.

The instructions on page 16 couldn't be more clear. You can even ignore the last paragaph on page 15, it's redundant...

Are you sure you are looking at the right manual?

viewtopic.php?f=123&t=5581

There is a series of manuals on various topics related to the 9XR Pro and ErSky9x. The one you want is called:
"Using Eepskye Program".

Go to page 16.
