9Xtreme and Multiprotocol Module With STM chip

Post by jhsa »

Mike, I am looking at building a Multiprotocol with a STM32 chip. The module uses a "SN74LVC2G00DCTR DUAL INPUT POSITIVE-NAND GATE". I have been told that this chip is needed because of the Taranis radio. I am planning to install this module as internal in my 9XT radio, and use COM2 for the telemetry.. My question is, do I need this chip with the 9XT??

Thank you

If that is used to invert the telemetry output, then, for COM2 on a 9Xtreme, it is not needed. It would be needed for COM1.
You could fit it, then add a link to select the non-inverted or the inverted output.

The problem is that I couldn't easily find the IC at a good price. As I said the module will be installed inside the radio, so it will use COM2 which according to you is fine without the inverter. COM1 is used by the module bay telemetry.
If really needed, I could use a transistor instead of that IC, right?

Thanks

Yes, the IC is used so that inversion can be enabled/disabled by software.

Yes, of course.. I understand.. Just wanted to know if it was really needed for the 9XT. It probably would, if I wanted to use the module in different radios, but as it will be installed internally, it is not needed, according to what Mike said..

Thanks

I was answering your question about replacing it with a transistor... already fogot you'd asked it? :mrgreen:

Is it really worth all the work, espacially with such cheap alternatives?
2x - Turnigy 9X with 9xtreme board;
2x - Turnigy 9XRpro ;
Frsky Taranis & Taranis +;
Horus x10s;
Horus x12s;
