Re: Orange DSM Module - Test Flown
I have now flown with the module, using an AR400 in DSMX mode. This being one of the first ones, subject to twitching on channel 2 if used in a 9x on normal settings, I set the model to 4-channels and 18ms. Range check was normal (30 paces) with no glitching even when I pointed the antenna directly ...

Re: Using Turnigy er9x with Spectrum DX7s (trainer/trainee)
This may be an answer? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=18703 If it works it lets any TX work with any TX as long as you can remap the channel order. More wiring and 2 RX's but? SM It works as advertised and it's great not to have a cable! By the way, the channel o...

Re: New TX Antenna 9x V2
That's the way I always orient the antenna on all my transmitters and I haven't had a problem at all.
I use the standard 2db antenna. I bought a 5db just to see what it was like, but it's big and awkward and not needed.

Orange DSM Module Photos
The pictures show the inside of the module, plus how it fits a 9x transmitter. The awkward and vulnerable antenna setup can be seen. If the antenna is straight up it's almost touching the handle. The antenna cable uses a standard connector, so should be easy to replace if you want to mount it elsewhe...

Re: OrangeRX DSMX/DSM2 plugin module
I got my module today. Unfortunately it's one of the first batch, so works with a JR Tx but not 9x (I haven't tried a short frame length). They are sending me a new one, but meanwhile it's OK in my XP9303. For an explantation of how the module handles DSM2/DSMX see my post here: http://www.rcgroups....

Re: Flaperon Mix
Many thanks for the helpful examples of flaperon programming. I do want, however, to suggest that your characterization of flap action as positive and spoiler action as negative doesn't do justice to the reality that different models have very different requirements. While flaperons can be helpful, ...

Re: DSM for dummys?
I just sourced a hobby zone champ RTF radio so I have an X10EMTX rf board I can use as a donor. Is this one of the low power modules? If so is there a known range limit on these? Let's put it this way. The Champ radio has enough range for the Champ if you don't fly it to the visual limit. This is n...

Re: 9X Radio
The mode 1 version of the 9x at LeadersHobby is $5 cheaper than the mode 2. Unfortunately, it's still $15 more expensive than last week. The wait list is shorter for mode 1 as well.

Re: Expo programing
I was able to get it by fiddling with the buttons but a write up for noobes would be great. This Tx does a lot but sure is complicated. 8-) Actually, it's really fairly simple once you get it. If you want complicated, try doing non-standard things with a transmitter that claims to make things simpl...

Re: LiFe Battery Pack
If you want to use the wall wart charger, you can make up an 8 cell pack of Rayovac pre charged AAcells, using the connecter from the battery holder that comes with the 9x. I paid $14 at Walmart for eight cells. At 2000 mAh, it will take about 24 hours of charging, but not needed often. Pre charged ...

Re: Hobbico Any-Link 2.4 module
I see the 9x is not listed in their compatibility table! To use the Any-Link module with a 9x, presumably you simply have to remove the existing module (or do the trainer mod by adding a resistor). It would use the JR/Spektrum cable into the trainer port. Is there an issue of channel order? The nati...

Re: hk backlight mod
I think somebody should update/correct the wiki. The Backlight mod part is totally false information. The HK backlight draws much LESS current, not more than the EL panel. The HobbyKing listing shows current draw as 60-90 mA, which is indeed far more than the EL panel. If this is wrong, say so in a...

Re: 9x Compatible Modules -- Spektrum
Fitting a Spektrum DM9 module to the 9x poses some problems because the pins on the 9x a re slightly shorter than those on a real JR transmitter. With mine, the module works only if I push it in and up and hold it there. I'm sure it could be made to work, perhaps by finding some longer pins. I've ha...

Re: Suggestion: Display TX battery & telemetry voltage in %
another option. maybe it could aternate (couple of seconds one and then the other) between voltage and percentage.. but all this would have to be selectable.. João This is a good idea. I like the idea of a realistic display of capacity remaining, but I also want to know the voltage. So it needs to ...

I had the same problem with a REV2 smartieparts board (compounded by the fact that my 9x had a V1 board). Steven was extremely helpful and did more than I expected to set things right. So give him a chance to help.

He said "Standard ER9x", not "Standard 9x", so I think you're out of luck with the regular firmware if that's what you meant.
