Re: Is it time for new HW to match the qaulity of the SW?

Here is a possibility:

I could do the CAD work in Solidworks, but I do not have any inspirations on the design layout since there are so many variables.
If anyone has the CAD models of the gimbals that would be a good start.

At the other end of the system, is this card (MP3 Sound Module Mini SD Card Product ID: 41540) capable of storing sounds in the aircraft and driving an amplifier to a speaker for engine/weapons sounds? Yes, I know they are available, but why are they so expensive? On the other hand, you could play m...

If you are in the UK you should be able to get the parts locally from an electrical shop.
The available upgrade boards are the gruvin and ersky boards which are featured on the forum and in the wiki.

On the HK site there are discussions of using these in planes. How do you hook up the motor/esc? I'd like to try one in a mini boat.

The other recent injury report involved a runaway where the flier tried to reach in and unplug the battery on a quad running full speed. (You do not want to search for the pictures.) The conclusion is to always wear safety glasses and keep a towel at hand to smother the chopper if needed. I'd also k...

The source code is available on the wiki. You could easily do the changes if you can compile the codes.

You are on the right track. Everyone who gets a new unit should check that it will bind to a receiver and move servos before starting to modify it. I usually start with a pack of brand new alkalines, just so there is no question of the batteries. Returning the unit is usually not helpful since you w...

Oshb5ems, MS Paint works okay. You just need to be able to save as a monochrome BMP file, 64 x 128 bits. There are two different things being discussed here, pilot name, and splash screen. If you search for the splash screen discussion there is a whole thread devoted to how to do it. http://openrcfo...

I loved my single stick Kraft, back in the day and always thought it would be perfect for helicopters. Eventually I hope to try one of the modern three axis gimbals.
That Kraft is going to draw a crowd of codgers, you realize?

Composite and vibrations as opposed to what, machined aluminum? The composite, if reinforced with glass or carbon in any form should provide damping more so than metal, cast or machined.

Re: Is it time for new HW to match the qaulity of the SW?

Europeans seem to like tray systems,<> Yes, wo do have many people flying tray systems over here. But that could be overcome by having detachable (slide-in) sides - much better than an extra tray. And only one case has to be designed, not two. I like the idea of a slide on piece that become the equ...

Got my new transmitter from R2hobbies yesterday and it started me thinking about this design issue. Europeans seem to like tray systems, others like the usual box necklace style. I have figured out the trims should be on the back side of the case. Too many variables to invest in tooling. http://www....

That wiring only works if you turn the servo upside down.
