Re: HobbyKing now offers 9x mainboards and LCDs as spare par

Yeah exactly and the quote from the local repair shop was the price of 3 new boards. I should definitely invest in a micro soldering station.

Both needing a new atmega chip. If you have a good soldering iron it's repairable :)

Looking forward to them coming back in stock. Will be able to fix up two broken transmitters for $20 :)

The two transmitters and modules listed for $50/£30, see if anyone wants them..
I was considering a 9XR showmaster but would training still work with another 9X?

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

Final thing before I sell these transmitters for parts. Do you guys think that if I connect a 100% working module to it there's a high chance it could damage the good module? I'm tempted to try it because it might be the module itself that's broken, but after my experience of 1 faulty module breakin...

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

On 5v setting on the scope the output is hardly visible on the screen, almost like a thick line. (I tried changing the red cal knob too). Voltage directly from the processor pin is 2.5ish whether it's on POS or NEG shift. I don't really understand why it's being shown as such a small voltage on the ...

I saw the distance between the pulses change, rather than the length of each pulse change ( as shown in this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IVPUiYKeek )

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

Yeah is measured appx 3v with the multimeter. And it's set to 1v on the oscilloscope (the red knob is on about 0.1v), unfortunately I didn't really pay attention to the voltage I was more looking for defined pulses. Will have a look at the voltage in more detail tomorrow. I don't really understand h...

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

http://imageshack.com/a/img661/2381/OOanKX.jpg I tested the transmitter with a scope today. The pulses change when I move sticks or switch so that's good. However the other signal (bottom on the photo) was pulsing, I expected to be solid as that's what I'd seen on videos. Is that just normal or coul...

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

It reads 2.18v and changing the throttle position doesn't change the voltage. My meter won't pick up more than 2 decimals so not sure if it is varying or not. I should upgrade the firmware and try the ''shift sel''.

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

That's that then.. I might be able to get somebody to replace the processor but I'll first give the other tx a good go at fixing, and it sounds like that means getting Mikes thoughts on it. I think the variation in PPM voltage is very small but might be able to notice something with a buzzer so I'll...

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

I would do that but I have more hope for the other tx :D Need to test it with an oscilloscope to see if the PPM varies. I just broke the pin off so I could get a clean contact on it with nothing in between, voltage was still only 0.1v. ( I have conductive glue so the pin contact repairable, on the v...

Not planning on using it unless we fix the menu button. I'm not bothered about getting it working with eeprom for now, need to know if it's the processor or not so I will try hard to lift the pin.
Happy thanksgiving :)

Any techniques on doing that, I have a fat iron tip which I can still melt the solder on the pin with, but can't lever it up at the same time because it's in the way :)

Re: Repair a Turnigy 9x. Became faulty from a bad module.

Is there any chance that the short could be happening on the very first pad where the pin from the processor touches? I don't have the kit or skill to replace the processor so if it's truly outputting 0.1V we'll have to abandon this tx and move to the other one which works fine except from outputtin...

Error loading file C:/DOCUME~1/User?LOCALS~1/Temp/temp.hex:
File may be corrupted, old or from a different system. You might need to update eePe to read this file.

That's what it says when I try to read the memory from the tx. Doesn't seem like it's even relevant.

Yes on the processor side. On both sides of the resistor there is no resistance ( no connection ) to ground. But from ground to the processor pin there's a resistance of 300ohms

Thank you for explaining that. I will attempt to desolder the SCK pad and cut it. Or could I cut the trace on the processor side? because I can just add some wire to repair it later

Hmm I guess I'll have to get this pin up somehow then.
Unless I could take 5v from somewhere else and put it into that resistor...
