Re: Control of external module from openTx
AH.... I missed the point that the PXX was a proprietary protocol. So OpenTX has support for both, but you are saying it would be easier to understand and use the open source code for the multiprotocol project? Also , and it may be the above mentioned multiprotocol code, but is there an open source ...

Re: Control of external module from openTx
I think I didn't explain enough. Example: With the R9M module in the Taranis module bay you can use the Taranis to set the output powwer of the module, and some other bind functions I believe. How is the Taranis, running openTX, able to do this? What protocol is used to communicate between the Taran...

Control of external module from openTx
Let me see if I can explain this correctly. Both Crossfire and the FrSky R9M modules can be configured from the Taranis (assuming others as well). And I am assuming both of those have some of proprietary protocol that they use for this, maybe it is open, I don't know. My question is is there a open ...

Re: Setting min throttle on a switch.
Set up a custom switch: S1: THR < -80 (and) AIL (The AIL is an 'and' switch, set in the rightmost column. This switch will be on when the throttle is below -80 and the AIL switch is on. Now add a mix on the throttle channel R -80 FULL switch(SW1) (NOTE: the multiplex is set to REPLACE) When the SIL...

Re: Setting min throttle on a switch.
Sometimes I would like the motors to stop as well. I am not a fan of the motors spooling up as soon as I arm the flight controller.jhsa wrote:Use a curve.. But shouldn't the flight controller allow to adjust the min throttle?

Setting min throttle on a switch.
OK, read this somewhere and it sounded like a good idea. I have a mini quad that when diving from some altitude I would like there to be a minimum throttle so there would be some control. I have a tgy 9x radio with er9x, I figured something like this would work. Using the throttle cut switch, when i...

Re: More than 8 channels with 9x radio and XJT module??
That could work as well. Can those rx do more than 8 channels?MikeB wrote:I don't think you can get more than 8 channels from those receivers. The only wayI can think of would use a X9R receiver with extra servos on the SBUS.

More than 8 channels with 9x radio and XJT module??
OK, this might be covered somewhere, so if it is, just point in the right direction. I am in need of more than 8 channels for my quadcopter. I want to do some aerial photography and the Multiwii flight controller has used up most of the channels, 4 for the sticks, 1 for 3-pos flight mode, 1 for RTH,...

Got it....
The line tx/rx line from the converter to the cpu were reversed. I must have been distracted. Something about trying to do intricate mods with children running around.

Re: Frsky XJT, 9X radio and onscreen display questions
What protocol (PPM or PXX) have you selected for the module. With the setup you describe, you need PPM. If you selected PXX, then the radio will be looking for SPort telemetry data. Another possibility is TX data from the module goes to RX data on the lite converter, always a confusion! Mike. PPM i...

Frsky XJT, 9X radio and onscreen display questions
Ok, Turnigy 9X radio FrSky XJT module Frsky D8R-II plus rx er9x-frsky firmware followed the instructions to mod the radio, rerouted the 2 pins using a jumper to connect the RX and TX pins on the outside of the XJT module to thefrsky lite level converter, then to the pads next to the cpu. The dip swi...

Re: Antenna connector polarity
The antenna system is designed around a 50 ohm impedance (AC resistance) design. Basically as long as the source impedance (module final rf circuit) and the radiating end of the antenna coax is tuned to be resonate at 2.4g, all the power from the final should travel through the coax(transmission li...

Re: Antenna connector polarity
What I want to do is just put the connector on the back, and since it is getting such bad recommendations, probably get better TX/RX modules, most likely FrSky. However can still use it for other projects. Originally i was thinking I would keep the stock antenna location, and have a short jumper to ...

I am going to replace the stock Turnigy 9X module and want to relocate the antenna to the back of the module. What style connector do most of the 2.4 GHz antennas use?

Re: FCC reviews RF exposure.
This topic may be a bit stale, but I can shed some light on this. From what I know about long range FPV, just getting back into RC, 430 MHz is a popular control frequency. As an amateur radio operator l have to occasionally check RF exposure limits when upgrading equipment. There are several online ...
